Want to recommend/trash an on-line supplier you've dealt with?

I keep reading how various folks have saved wads of money by shopping online. Hoping those of you with experience with particular on-line suppliers would post recommendations.

Do you have a favorite supplier whose prices and quality were great and who delivered whatever you ordered when you expected it? Conversely, it there a supplier who burned you by sending broken items or stuff of inferior quality or delivering what you ordered so late that it held up your build, or whatever?

If enough people respond, I'll try to collect all info, organize it in some reasonably coherent fashion, and post updates periodically so it stays available to everyone in the community.

It would also be helpful (for cut and paste purposes) if posters followed the same format in making recommendations:

I bought all my plumbing from Ira Woods & Sons... no problems at all and I would use again.

I bought all my appliances from ABT... One of the item I received was a previous return from another customer, as soon as I pointed that out to them they apologized profusely, arranged for UPS to pick up the item the next day and had a new one in my hands very quickly, all at no cost to me... mistakes happen but good companies fix their mistakes... I would highly recommend ABT to any one.

I saved a ton buying online and I used this method. Picked out my appliances locally, found the cheapest price online, asked my store of preference to PM all the other stores... worked very well.

Comments: Marty was very helpful and delivered a beautiful entry door for a very reasonable price. I'm giving this supplier 4 stars instead of 5 because after I made the order, I felt there was a little bit of a lack of communication. I would have liked an email order confirmation and shipping notification without asking. However, the door arrived in great condition and I'm very happy with my purchase. He was also quick to follow up and ship some brick mould that was missing when we went to install the door free of charge.

Comments: I got a great deal on the tile for our kitchen back splash and fireplace surrounds from Christeen at art tile direct. She sent me lots of samples for no charge to help me make my decision. She is able to make custom art tile when given a line drawing or you can choose any color combination for any of her existing art tiles. Field tile is also very reasonable. I would highly recommend.

Comments: I ordered my cast iron clawfoot tub and faucets from Vintage Tub. They were a pleasure to work with, had great communication and held my tub in the warehouse until I was ready to have it delivered. The faucets are beautiful and I would highly recommend.

Comments: Very good customer communication. After placing my order, one item was discontinued, but they "compensated" me for the inconvenience by giving me a 10% off coupon on my entire next order, which worked out rather nicely when ordering lights for an entire home. Their search feature is a bit antiquated so it may be hard to find things online, but they are a great company.

Or is it the people who don't realize that trees can be grown as a crop, much like corn, only it takes longer." Funny. Apparently to some people, environmentalism is an all-or-nothing situation. Apparently you either live naked in the woods and eat twigs and berries, or you support wasting as much of everything as possible. FYI, it's not the plastic that goes into computers that's the problem -- it's the power that they consume. And tree farms are major hogs of land and are nearly as poor at supporting diverse ecosystems as conventional farms are. Anyway, as for my worst recent example? I recently received two ram chips and 6 SATA cables (each flexible and perhaps double the size of a piece of linguini along each axis) in a 1'x1.5'x2' box.

@scootermom, 1) It is electrical. When the motor is activated by pressure or pulling on the drawer, there's a curved fingerlike projection that physically pushes the drawer forward (see image). Closing simply uses the soft-close mechanism of Blumotion slides that many people already have. When you have a power outage or tripped breaker, the drawers work like regular drawers. Servo Drive is a rather complex system to put together but a very simple one in functionality: A 24V DC transformer (big block above outlet) powers up to 10 (I think) Servo Drive motors (small block below outlet with white label), you need a mount for each motor (L-shaped flat piece motor is mounted on), and low voltage wire between the transformer and motor and between motors (they are mounted in series). If you have servo drive motors for multiple drawers in a bank, they have a vertical aluminum rail that all the motors can mount to. 2) I had JUST gotten the song out of my head until you mentioned it... Here goes another 3 months of "Servo Drive, Servo Drive, it's so easy..." @madeyna, we have Nine Star iTouchless trash cans at our office and at the house, and we love them. I hate touching trash cans, and plus they're cheaper than Simple Human's NON-motorized cans, though not quite as pretty. My one complaint is they get VERY grimy in the lid's crevices, and we put off cleaning it because we don't like to, and eventually it gets really gross. I hope our trash pullouts will stay a lot cleaner than our iTouchless cans!

Wonderful thread, Bobby... see what your Banana Bread experience has spawned. Glad to know I'm not alone. My brothers, I'm sure, would have several "bizzo meals" to mention, as I like ingredients more exotic for their tastes (like mushrooms in my spaghetti sauce) but I think my worst was the first I served my now DH... One of my brother's had given me a variety of flavored vinegars asa Christmas present... one a "Salsa Vinegar" that I'd never tried before. I made a vinaigrette dressing, and the new BF (now DH) had forced down several bites of his salad (good boy, taught to clean his plate) before I got to my first one. One bite and I immediately removed the salad bowls from the table with "you do not have the eat this!!" It was HOT, and awful... DH says it took several more meals before he trusted that I really can cook!! LOL

Hey thanks for remembering to post that. That looks almost just like mine will be - if they ever finish building the cabs! Except I never thought about molding on the beam. That looks really nice. But I think my beam won't match my cabs. I probably won't stain it and the cabs will be white. Love your pantry doors. Really nice crossed trim pieces. Those pulls look a lot like the RH Ephram pulls I got. Those are nice. We have matching blue tape on our floors!! That's just amazing :-) At least my floors, walls and ceiling are done.
