Help - window tiles in bathroom and grout
Comments (22)Thank you creative tile. Yes, these feature tiles are at the end of the bath in the main shower area. I don't believe he put anything behind the tiles. I'm sure he just stuck them to the plasterboard as he did with all the others. He did treat the tiles with Lithofin as these are stone but then I believe he just grouted them. He's been this morning and can't see where the leak under the bath is coming from (please see picture) and he's added some more sylicon around the taps but I wonder if this has anything to do with the tiles too if you say he should have put something behind them but the plasterboard was bone dry so hopefully it isn't. What a nightmare. Thank you for the advice. We'll have to see what the boss says tomorrow but I'd like to give them the opportunity to rectify it first and I'm so glad I posted this else I'd have been scrubbing at the tiles for weeks but now I know I need to get them back in Thank you again for all your help....See MoreCorrect tiling of bathroom window sill?

Comments (24)A fix, won’t. The problem is the crack, inherently peters out toward the sink bowl, with the widest portion on the edge. You may be able to flow enough repairing material into a portion of the crack, but you end up with an area of the crack that is too narrow for the repair material to penetrate and bond. What happens then is the crack below the bonded area slowly spreads and reappears, like a bad penny. If you know the actual material, have the correct tools and materials, it might be possible to open the crack enough through its entire extent to repair it correctly, but it’s a far from simple or easy task. Also, on some materials, the work to prepare for the repair sometimes renders the unit unrepairable...much like a bullseye on a windshield can suddenly become a huge crack when they attempt a resin repair....See Morecracked marble in new bathroom renovation
Comments (38)@YG - just get your measurements in order to run numbers through the deflecto calculator over at JBF. Just add your numbers to the post that you already have started over there re: your cracked tile. They like to keep everything in one continuous thread so that members can easily find all the information related to a particular project. Remember, your contractor was required to install your tile in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications/industry standards. If you didn’t have natural stone tile installed previously, it’s HIGHLY UNLIKELY that your subfloor met these requirements. Plus, your joists may not comply with the right specifications in order for the floor to fully support your marble tile. @Mike Blasko - I am very confused as to why a bucket of ”mastic” can be labeled “mortar” - seems likely to cause a great deal of confusion for a customer. Even if the customer has done some research in order to know that mastic shouldn’t be used, there’s a pretty high probability that he/she would think using a bucket of the ”Ultimate Premixed Mortar” was perfectly fine to use - because, after all, it says MORTAR - not MASTIC. EDIT - I just realized that this wasn’t installed DIY - scary to think that a ”professional” wouldn’t have known that TEC’s product wasn’t the correct type of ”mortar.”...See Morecorgimum
