I've had success with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the shower that my son uses. You will want to get a jumbo economy size package of them though, because you will go through a lot of them.

TY for your response....I did pick up some Magic Erasers today, they're marked "Heavy Duty". I also bought a bottle of Easy Off Bam, I've never used it before, so we'll see how it works. I think I'll also try one of those rectangular green scrubbie pads that are a little stiffer than the one that's attached to the sponge.

PLEASE be very, very careful trying different cleaners. DO NOT MIX THEM--it's not even safe to use one, then switch to another.

About a year ago, my BIL was cleaning his gas fireplace. Whatever he was using wasn't doing the job, so he grabbed a different cleaner. He didn't mix them together, he used them one after another, but they mixed on the surface he was cleaning. Seconds later, he collapsed, his heart had stopped, if the kids hadn't have been home and immediately called 9-11, he'd have died. As it was, he spent a week in the hospital that he cannot remember at all, and came out of it with a damaged heart and defibrulator installed in his body (that he hates having there).

If I recall correctly, the Magic erasers say not to use them with other cleaners--do check the directions before you do something dangerous that could kill you. Especially since a bathroom is a fairly enclosed place, where it doesn't take long for deadly fumes to affect you.

I've used the Magic Erasers with other cleaners without a problem. The issue with mixing cleaners is not to mix cleaners that have bleach with cleaners that have ammonia because it will form chlorine gas that can be deadly. It can be hard to determine exactly what is in many cleaners, so they should not be mixed. As far as I can tell though, the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers seem to be inert. They are made of melamine foam and don't contain bleach or ammonia.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not mixing cleaners. I'm rinsing well between each one.

Also, this isn't in a bathroom, it's a stand-up shower that's in the basement, so it's not as enclosed as a bathroom.

If I can get it clean, I'll put one of those sprayers in that sprays cleaner after each shower, hopefully that will work.

I just used one of those nylon Net Bath Sponge's on the shower walls for the old soap scrunge. Those scratchy things work well - does take some human powered energy.

Dial clean rinse body wash- if nothing is working for you could it be the fiberglass is etched and dull rather that soap scum?

ust some general bathroom help is if you just keep a, you know, your disinfectant and an all-purpose cleaner and a rag just in every bathroom, but specifically the guest bathroom. That way you can just go in and tidy up when unexpected guests come. It's kind of easier to get away for a minute if you already have the supplies in there.

To help keep your bathroom smelling fresh, you can always get a fabric softener sheet and just put it in the bottom of the wastebasket, replace it about once a week. This also helps in drawers, cars, basically anywhere in the house to help keep things fresh.

I live with the hardest water in the world. Scrubbing bubbles doesn't say it is for hand water and it isn't.

I dont know about anyone elses hard water, but Oxy clean and BAM (same guy sells it), and even CLR, I might as well throw more hard water on the problem.

I clean my glass shower doors and my tiles with Lime Away and an old loofa. For a bad build up you have to let the Lime Away sit for a bit and do it a few times.

That Magic eraser, if you are not careful it causes a lot of damage.

What kind of things will the Magic Eraser damage? What surfaces should we stay away from?

I accidently discovered rubbing alcohol works on soap scum and hairspray.

If its really thick I just start with a plain plastic paint scraper. The 1" flexible kind.
