I found the Sugatsune edge pulls that blended nicely so I picked them up. Can you use "flush pulls"? This summer I had it in my other bathroom waiting for this room to get done. My 3 year old grandson pulled it over. Fortunately he didn't get hit! So I would only recommend the setup to responsible adults ;) I love it though. Regarding the medicine cabinet, tonight I might install the LED track. I had to order special adaptor that I missed on my original order. My electrician is ok with me doing this portion. He installed the hard wire 12volt. I will attach the LED strip and the infrared on/off switch. I did a plug-in setup in my laundry cabinet with the infrared and it has worked beautifully so far. Raehelen, many questions...with answers for you:) The medicine cabinet door is an actual medicine cabinet door that I acquired 20 years ago. I didn't even know about any of this stuff. It sat in my basement for all this time. I almost gave it away to Habitat for Humanity. When I was looking for medicine cabinets this past summer 2013 (you aren't the only one with a year long bathroom project, I'm sorry to report :( Anyway when looking, I saw a Robern medicine cabinet at Fergeson's and thought about my Robern cabinet door, "could I have an actual medicine cabinet door?" I did. It is huge! The door is double sided mirror, but the inner mirror is not as wide as the outer mirror. The inner area is a sturdy plastic with spots for hinges. That is what told me it was the same as the med cab on display. I thought that my cab maker could get those hinges and install the door onto a box. The edge is a black plastic that as a channel or grove all along the edges. It is about 1/5" thick. It seems you may have said that. The pulls were a real struggle for me. I wanted minimalist and safety. I saw similar pulls but there was always a sharp edge to the sticky out part. To me it is more stable with the particle board construction of the walnut veneer cabinets.

How is the new room heated and cooled? With forced air through ducts? If so, does the room have a return duct or does it depend on circulation through the door opening? There may be some technical reasons why the gap at the bottom is good even if the gap was not intentional.

For painted pocket doors I always add a 2 inch wide strip to the pocket edge. This strip blocks the edge of the pocket and also allows the door to stay engaged on a piece of aluminum angle I place on the floor of the pocket. A groove in the bottom of the door runs almost to the 'show' edge. The aluminum stops the swinging cold, and unlike the plastic guides that come with the doors does not scratch the paint. For stained doors with any decoration (panels, etc.) you can attach a strip and paint it black, or order wider doors and rip some of the 'show' edge off. This keeps the decoration centered when the door is closed. The pocket is of course sized slightly larger to account for the extra door width. I saw some kits for doubles to make them close together somewhere, but I have been making them using steel sliding door pulleys and 1/16 inch steel cable for a long time. A couple simple brackets attach the top of the door to the cable to make everything move together. Stops (single or double) can be added opposite the pocket to block light on that edge. Van Dykes Restorers has a number of pulls available for the face of the door. They also have brass edge pulls. Renovators Supply used to have edge pulls and a few face pulls. I have built the locks the last few times I needed them, since outside of salvage there is just not much available that is anything but clunky modern looking.

I am sorry that you are going through this. As a family who has been down this road, I cannot stress enough to listen to the pros here and stop this job. The cost of repairing a slow leak is not covered by insurance. It took us years and more money than you can imagine repairing the leak. Do you think it is hard finding a GC now? Try finding one willing to deal with the rotted mess of a leaking shower. It took us 2 years. We also had the added expense of paying an engineer to properly plan how to repair the rot. Just stop now!
