Nightmare contractor - AL Phaneuf Gracewood Enterprises
Comments (13)The context of the following post alludes to "facts", as if you are the factual authority of the "OP" original poster, who, by the way, posted with the screen name of "alex8896", which is NOT your screen name, IE., posting handle. "Posted by xwindowman (My Page) on Sun, May 26, 13 at 9:12 Lets get the facts straight. First the homeowner is responsible. She is and older lady and her husband just passed away and she is trying to move. For a home inspector to find wood rot in a 30 year old home in Florida is more common than you may think. She hired Gracewood Ent. expecting a carpenter to do the work not a handyman. As for the cheapest "not" AL was much more expensive than other contractors. That's why so much more was expected. I'm not sure how complaining about poor repair work and unauthorized credit card charges is transferring responsibility. Talk about a vacuum When you "state facts" it is considered a common courtesy to provide a back-quote as a specific point of reference to that you are wishing to emphasize or clarify. However, the "facts" you elected to include, have little or no correlation with the OP. I do not live in Florida and donot know the subject of the OP's complaint. However , I am aware of the complaints that have been in the public forum for decades, with reference to the remodeling/construction industry. ....See MoreContractor said these tiles job are within the industrial standard.
Comments (30)Had all the tiles ready before I hired this contractor. I told him what I want and he provided his bid. For downstairs bathroom ( bathroom floor, shower wall and shower floor, ) is $1481.25, and the upstairs(around the tub) is $866.25 to lay the tiles. But when he finally came with his tiles man(who claimed he did not do my job just introduced a man who spoke very little english to do the job), I had to change some of my origin ideas to fit in the price quotes. No spacer used for the subway tiles. Tiles are from floor&decor with "leg?" on the edge. No matter what, thanks for everyone who read and response to my on and on problems. By the way, tiny pieces are eyesore, but the lines are really, really bother me....See Morebad tile job, what should I do about the contractor?
Comments (0)So we moved into a new house and had our bathroom redone. The tile and grout look horrible. This is the 2nd attempt by the contractor to fix it. I asked for a refund in the amount it would take to retile the bathroom and she is insisting that she be given another chance to fix it because in our contract she offers a warranty. Should I eat the loss or consider taking her to small claims court to recoup the funds....See MoreBathroom Shower Tile Nightmare
Comments (46)Don, does this picture look familiar? Spot setting was used on my shower nighmare about 20 months ago. When I questioned them as to why they didn't install a pre-slope, why there were holes in the liner, why they used poly and redguard (moisture sandwich), and why the tile looked so awful, I was told that I was "too hard to please" and the contractor quit the job, leaving a huge mess behind. We have since rebuilt it using a new contractor and it is absolutely perfect and beautiful, with proper waterproofing. Hopefully having the credit card company on your side will make it easier for you to get your money back to put towards your new contractor. I found my new contractor by pleading on this forum, and a pro on here recommended a real pro in my area. Don't give up. It's your house; it's the contractor's workplace, and they should be expected to do a professional job....See Morearkansas girl
