what is best vacuum cleaner ?

well I don't like hoover, and old one's doesnot picks up Floor of Tiny Cat Litters and Bits Dirts. I hate to uses boom so Can You Tell Me What is Best Vacuum Cleaner? Thank You,

The best vacuum I've personally used is Electrolux/ Aerus. NOT the Electrolux you can buy at Lowe's!! Those are NOT the same as the original. It's now Aerus.

Lindhaus also makes one identical to the Aerus for a better price.

I have 2 top of the line Kenmore progressive canisters - one is 10 years old, the other is 8. I love them. They have some features that I haven't found on more expensive canister. There are 2 lights - one on the power head and another on the end of the wand. So if you disconnect the power brush head and just use the long wand to vacuum behind furniture or along the toe kick in the kitchen you have an additional light. It also provides light if you're using one of the upholstery attachments. I also like the simple vacuum suction control located on the handle- one slight twist and it opens up and reduces the suction so that you don't overpower throw rugs. I have mixed flooring- tile, wood, wall to wall and Persians. This works on all of them. And it's easy to maneuver. I did use my neighbor's Miele (I don't remember which model) and was surprised how difficult it was to maneuver the head- it actually made my wrist sore. Vacuums are not inexpensive I suggest you try them out in the store before purchasing. And check the price and volume of the bags and HEPA filter if there is one.

I would have to ask you if you have enough respiratory problems, that it affects your health. There really is not enough particles coming out. If any,it is from displaced air, from movement of the brushroll. There is no other fan pulling the air. When you are using the wand, make sure that the head of the upright is not "digging" into the carpet. Sometimes this happens, when you pull the hose in front of the upright. The front will tip forward; digging into the carpet. Also, remove the bottom brushroll plate and brushroll, then clean out the brushroll chamber periodically. You should be doing this at least every time you change the belt(if belt must be replaced). If you have a more permanent belt, you should just set up a schedule to do a maintenance check. Be sure to check the airway from the brushroll chamber to where the wand connect to the machine. Sometimes dirt can get stuck. If it is a big concern for you, you then can purchase an upright vacuum cleaner where the brushroll shuts off or shuts off in the upright position. If you do not want to spend the money, then just stuff one facial tissue down where the wand connects to the vacuum. Do not stuff it so far down where you cannot get it.

Well, this is my SAD saga regarding vacuum cleaners! I was married 50 years when my husband passed away last summer, so I have seen A LOT of vacuum cleaners! The one I remember very well is a Sears canister over 20 years ago that cost me at that time about $400.00. It was nothing but trouble. So bad, in fact, that it went in the trash. My Mom also purchased one and so did my best friend. Both of those shortly went in the trash, also. Then came the Hoover Dimension 1000 canister vacuum. I brought it with me in 1988 when we moved to a new location, where we still are now. And the Dimension 1000 still runs! That's nearly 30 years! But the hose desperately needs replacement (as the wiring runs through it to run the power head) but I doubt I can still get the parts. I should have replaced it at the time, when it cost $100.00, but I had no idea how these vacuums were going to go downhill. I have it all taped up with electrical tape, but I'm afraid to use it. So it's sitting in the basement. I still have an older Hoover Windtunnel upright with the "Dirt Finder" that actually works! The entire vacuum works well but it's extremely heavy to push. I found that with the newer ones, the "Dirt Finder" doesn't work--I was actually told that in a Hoover store--and the rest of the machine doesn't work, either. Again, I was told in a vacuum store that the newer Hoovers are no good. Well, that vacuum was sold in my last garage sale for $5.00 and I was glad to be rid of it. Now, to the present time...I purchased a Dyson DC 41 for $600.00 about three years ago and it just quit on me. I hemmed and hawed about what I should get to replace it and I wish I had seen this forum before making a purchase. Believe it or not, I bought another DC 41 because WHEN it worked, it was great! Fortunately, since it now is an older model, it was somewhat less expensive. Now I'm hoping I will have better luck with this one. I also decided it was time to replace my heavy, aging Hoover Windtunnel, and I purchased a Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away (the pet model) for upstairs because I love the ease in which I can get under the bed. This set me back about $350.00, which I didn't think was bad, because I LOVE this vacuum. And I have 7 cats in the house (yes, seven) so I'm glad I got the pet models in both. But I have it less than a month, so only time will tell. Had I seen this forum, I would have looked into the Tacony products, a Simplicity or Riccar. After all, I spent enough money that I could have considered one of those. And there is a vacuum store right up the road from me.

Just bought a Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless at Target for $49.99 based on a Consumer Report article. It didn't get the best rating for noise but it was the 4th pick from the top. I would avoid Hoover also. The last couple I had were expensive junk. Try the March '07 Consumer Reports, your local library should have copies. They rated vacuums and surprisingly a Kenmore beat the Dyson Animal for picking up pet hair! They rate different features so you can see what's important to you and go from there.

I like the Hoover Fusion, not Windtunnel. Fusion is a Dyson knockoff that costs about $100 at WalMart. I also have the Oreck, it's expensive, works ok but they all may need repairs after awhile. Have had the Fusion almost 3 years now and it still works fine, good on pet hair (have a white pekingese that sheds like crazy).

Most vacuums are pretty good, if you like to spend time vacuuming and detailing all the little places and under the furniture. I don't, it's my least favorite thing...well, maybe mopping is my least favorite. However I have really clean floors, and the best part is that I hardly have to do a thing.

On the hope that it would actually work, I bought a Roomba 500 series (the new models), and WOW, my only regret is that I didn't have this years ago. I love my clean floors. It gets under the cabinets, under low furniture, and everywhere WHILE I'm happily quilting! (: The most I have to do is dump it's bin, and check and clean it's brushes every week. I would have to do that type of maintenance with any vacuum. And, yes, it does pick up the likes of cat litter, pine needles, pet hair, etc. It even handles the thread and mess in my sewing room!

It does such a great job that I added a Scooba to my 'bot crew. It washes the kitchen, tile entryway, and bathroom floors. This one does require that I put in water and Scooba soap, and then dump the dirty water on completion...but, wow...there isn't a day now that my floors don't look great in every room, and I put in very little time. I've been using the 'bot system now for several months and would never go back willingly. We live on acreage in the rainy northwest with FIVE boxer dogs running through the house -- that's 20 wet dirty dog feet.

So, "best" for me means spending my time on something else while 'bots keep the floors detailed and looking great.

I have all tile, two dogs two cats and use the Roomba Dirt Dog. It is a sweeper not a vacuum. Only $125. which is sweet, It even sweeps up the bottle caps from the bottled water! Has a large bin and can get corners, I love it. Still have to get under the low furniture once a week with the eureka, but never under the beds, Old Yeller (Dirt Dog) does that!

Both the original poster asking the question and the 2nd poster giving them an email address to contact for a discount vacuum were both probably the same person. Both registered the same day Dec 2.. They do this to make it look like a legitimate person asking a question (a shill) and then the seller appears.

They cost more but one third the price of a kirby, and better around than the any dyson!
I don't know why folks don't research before investing.
Go to a dealer that sells dysons,kirbys and rainbow for that matter and ask if sebo is the better vacuum.

pkguy, I had the same thought about the first two posters! As for a favorite vacuum, I think the Hoover's get a bad rap. One must remember.....there are many different models of Hoover's. My current favorite for quick clean-ups is the Hoover Slider. It works great on hardwood and tile, as well as carpet.
