I will give you my experience with American Range and some background.

I bought the 30" American Range from an online retailer Select Appliance. They were professional and packaged the range so well and extremely careful. I was nervous to buy an appliance on line due to the fact of finding someone to service it.

Well, I posted here about the burn off stage and I was concerned maybe I was not doing the burn off stage properly. I received a post from the vice president/chairman of American Range offering his assistance with my range. He gave me his telephone number to contact him directly. I called him, he answered the phone and within two hours he had a service company in the seattle area contact me to come out and look at the range. They called me on a Friday, and Monday morning they came out to look at the range and install some air baffles.
I was truly impressed with the customer service.

As far as the range, I love it! I came from using a electric coil stove, so I my learning curve took some time. The oven/broiler is wonderful. I have had it since the end of March so I am still learning.

i think if you search this forum you will find pro's and con's about all your choices. If you are leaning toward
Wolf mainly for the 2 year warranty, you should know with Bluestar's new White Glove Service, you can effectively get a 2 year warranty from them as well.

Ditto berryberry. All the brands (as well as DCS, which makes the Monogram) have been discussed here for years. Just search each by brand name.

Seen and heard many good reviews of the American. I have a 48" AG Wolf with griddle and grill and have been pretty satisfied. I have had a couple of service calls re: the igniters. Beautiful range, but I would definitely take a closer look at the American.

BlueStar is off my list now as it is not sold in Missouri. Am leaning toward the Wolf as the price I was quoted yesterday is in my/my insurance settlement's range and is sold and serviced locally. The retailer who sold me the Thermador went out of business, so I'm reluctant to buy from just anyone just to get the rock bottom price.

Bluestar services their ranges directly. That means they will find someone in your area-(probably someone already familiar with the other pro-brands) to come out to do the service. They are by far the simplest to work on with no 'hidden' problems.

They are also the best for cooking.

There have been a lot of issues with the Wolf AG ranges made in 2007. I haven't heard whether the issues have been resolved for the 2008 models, but if you're gunshy of issues, you may want to choose a DF Wolf or choose another brand.

Pwill did u try calling the new sales line for bluestar? they might be able to get a range for you even though they are not in your area.

we had no qualms about ordering a Bluestar 48" range from Eurostoves. We checked with a couple who had installed it in O'Fallon, IL, and they love it, they love the service they got, they love Trevor, etc., etc.

So, we called Trevor and discussed the process with him, and ordered it on the spot. We are now awaiting delivery, and refuse to go pessimistic about what might happen.

Hope this helps you. Our local appliance service guy told us to avoid Wolf and Viking at all costs.

Bluestar is the old Garland range, and is distributed out of New Jersey....There does not seem to be any national service so if you have an issue its yours....

I'll put in my 2 cents: We have a Bluestar 48 Heritage cooktop (moved in in December). It is wonderful (although I don't think I would order the raised griddle again). If you like to cook, it is as close to a commercial cooktop as you are going to find. It is very simple. Our plumber installed it.

We got it from Eurostoves.

I have a DCS 48" dual fuel with six burners and a griddle. I have had it for over a year. When it first arrived I had major problems with the gas burners they would click to turn on, but never ignite. It took three people to find out what was wrong. The whole time we thought it was the stove, but it turned out the gas plumbing from the outside of the house didn't have the correct regulator and the stove's safety device kept turning it off so it didn't blow up. The DCS customer service tech people were great in fact it was a regional tech rep that diagnosed the problem over the phone. My husband and I cook alot and we just love this stove. The gas burners are great with lots of BTU's and an excellent simmer. We use the little oven for the two of us and I bake in the big one for a crowd or when I'm baking cookies, desserts or using pans that are large. Take a look at DCS they make the GE Monogram, but are less expensive. Good luck choosing, it sounds like a win win situation since you will acquire a new appliance.

I have a Wolf AG, 4 burners and double griddle. It is installed but we are not finished with the kitchen so I haven't cooked anything yet. I did try all four burners at the same time, pre-heated both ovens and turned on all burners and no problem.
I think the problem alko spoke of were with the 36" ranges.
I wish it had rolling oven racks though. I think DCS has those, it's a nice feature.

Have wanted a Viking for years, now can afford it, but read all over Internet about Ignitor problems. Store salesman today, said they are now solved with new models. Any feedback out there?????

I purchased a wolf dual fuel 48" 9 months ago and after several service calls, Wolf did a buy back on the range. It was kind of strange, I would have been ok with another range but they did not want to switch it out. They were very nice, tried to service it but never really looks at the internals, instead would send a chef out here to cook in it and troubleshoot it. My issue was mainly the convection. Cook on one rack, no issues, cook on all of them like cookies and extremely uneven cooking from top to bottom and back to front. Not satisfied. Hated the lack of rolling racks, I find the racks hard to pull out. Had the double griddle. Fantastic to cook on but the grease catcher does not catch grease, instead it fills up, overflows underneath and makes quite the mess, even when the catcher is not full....they even mentioned that it is a design flaw. The actual service help after was good in most respects, would I buy another wolf? maybe some day, but not that range for sure. Also, took forever to heat up and boiling a pot of water took too long for such a beautiful unit. I am now purchasing a capital culinarian...hoping for much better results.....

We purchased a GE Monogram Oven that has been a challenge. The lower element burned up within the first year of ownership. Arc heat opened a hole in the back wall and left what looks like welding debris on the walls of the oven. The response from the company was to replace the element and the rest of the damage was pretty much "tough luck". Not very impresssed with the service, product quality or the way it cooks.

The Wolf gas drop-in insert (4 burner) is incredible to cook on. The only recommendation is to inspect the knobs to make sure you get the metal version. The "chrome" plastic ones discolored and had to be replaced. There was no service on this and the $140 cost for 4 knobs was a little frustrating. Still love the way in cooks and we cook daily. If you are serious about cooking, don't skimp on the size or the investment. We were on a tight budget at the time and have been please we reached as high as we could for a great stove. Only regret was not going bigger.

In our old place, we had a 36" 6-burner all gas Wolf and liked it very much except for ignition issues. We now need a range in our new place. We have narrowed it down to the Wolf again or the American Range 36" 6-burner all gas.
We have a B&B. We do a lot of cooking and a lot of baking. Fitting the full sheet pan is mighty tempting. Wondering if there are new thoughts in the last year on these two ranges? Does anyone know if Wolf (now SubZ) has fixed their ignition issues? And I've read the AR has the same troubles? Looking for any and all input!

I have a 48 inch GE monogram dual fuel range installed installed 6 weeks ago. Some pie filling dripped onto oven floor. I attempted to wipe it up with a soft wet sponge and the blue finish flaked up exposing base metal. Dealer said oven surface should not be touched with cloth or sponge for spills even though oven was cold because they are self cleaning. How ridiculous is that? And referred me to GE monogram CS. Told me at first that it is cosmetic but asked for pictures. I refuse to accept this. Stay tuned.

Thats tricky, if you don't get any satisfaction, blow up your story on every fb & yahoo group that you can.

We have a Monogram 48” oven. It has nice styling and functioned well for a few years. The problem is, Mongram does not support their product. One of the thermostats has started malfunctioning, and it does not fully heat. Monogram does not offer a replacement part and there are no after market replacement parts. The only options are to either live with a defective oven, or buy a new one.
