Shake Your Booty ! (shake, shake, shake)

Got to go on a day trip today w/some retired friends...well, you 'Enabler's R Us' got to me as I don't do alot of scary Halloween or anything like that... but had to buy this wonderful brass old shoe boot at an antique store...

I sat it on my LR treadle sewing table to take pics tonight...here's a closer view (w/just room light):

And here's a close-up w/camera flash so you can see the details better...it's a planter, I guess...but won't it be great for Halloween decor! It has a few scuffs & cost $8. Thought it was quite unique! A good day.... Jeanne S.

Jeanne, love your antique brass shoe boot you found. It will be fun to see what you come up with for Halloween. Wonderful pictures with it displayed.

I bought a couple of purple boots for some of my decor this year while out ys this summer. I had totally forgot I bought them till you showed your new boot tonight.

I agree with Eric_OH that junk and other 'props' do not define a cutting edge design. I wonder how much of this drive to "think outside the box" (the phrase itself now cliched) stems from people's urge to shock the neighbors? As cady stated: "I don't seem to have exceeded the tolerance range so far. Maybe it's time to try a big, rusted scrap metal sculpture in the front bed." As a fan of native plants, I sense that many native plant enthuseists are spoiling for a fight: "I know the Latin name of this plant, therefore it's not a weed, na, na!" If you really want to shock the neighbors, try this: a swept dirt yard. Old-fashioned and full of history, this type of landscape would nevertheless stick out in modern landscape. But would it be innovative? Or even good design? Are we trying to being individual for the sake of individualism? Is this necessarily a good thing? Traditional designs have stood the test of time because they are good...this era's really good innovations will become the next generations' traditionals. But are we all geniuses that need to attempt this level of innovation, or will we ultimately be disappointed??

Hi Kate, Sorry we must have posted at the same time. I started a new post to answer your question. However, I did not mention our supplier. Our supplier was Kamco out of Wallingford, CT (203)284-1968. Unfortunately, they are mostly a commercial supplier, but had a good relationship with our contractor and agreed to supply materials to him for our project. I do know that Rings End is a supplier in our area. Joan

Does anybody shake their baking powder?

I don't shake my baking powder, nor any of my other "spices" I use for baking and cooking. I have a nice tupperware container from the 70's that I transfer my baking powder in to, when I get a new can. Then I write the expiration date on it, as I don't bake much anymore since my girls grew up. To me, it is just as weird as the expiration dates that show up now on everything... that "didn't used to expire". Moni

There could be things other than the malt in the Whoppers that could cause problems. Look at your overall diet because each person is different and what affects one person might not bother another. I never connected some foods to my itchy eyes and aching joints until I found a allergist that did the testing by putting stuff under the skin. I can eat all of them in moderation with little problem. Too much depending on what they are I can have problems. My other pain in the joint foods are peanut butter and rice.

Jeanne, I love your boot. It is beautiful. I really like shoes and boots. I have a workboot planter and a wood plaque that is a workboot. I love them both.

Jeanne..love the old boot! It's a perfect piece to do SO MANY things with..and yes, for Halloween too.
I love the setting it's in now - perfect with those old photos.

Oh how neat. I love the old Victorian boot vases. This will make a neat Halloween decoration, and as Jane said, work for other decorating too. I have one, that my Mom bought about 20 yrs ago, but can't make it work for Halloween (its brown and white), its been stored since she died 10 yrs ago. :o( I can't bear to part with it.
I love that yours can be used in many ways.

Our Enablers did good, huh?

Well, I wasn't sure if I should open this post or not from the title--thought you might have been sipping a little too much "watermelon wine" and decided to dance for us! LOL

That's a great boot, and like the others said it looks really good where you have placed it.

So glad you had another fun outing with your friends--I got out for a bit today as well with a couple of friends. More about that later.
