Has anyone tried the new Floormate?
Comments (6)Janiner: Congrats on the new floormate and I agree w Lazygarden's observations. I don't know which one I have, it just says Spin and Scrub on the front. We have had it for about 2 years and I love it, given what it is for and how well it does the difficult task of cleaning tile. We have 1550 square feet of tile (the whole house, including the bedrooms), no pets or kids, and I hate housecleaning, so do as little as possible. But the tile is light, so I still have to do it every 6 weeks or so. The worst is always the kitchen, especially under our restaurant-style thick rubber mat in front of the cooking area. It has lots of holes for things to drop through and can be quite a mess. When we bought the floormate, the sales staff were clear in stating that it was for flooring, but not specifically for grout and that the brushes would only reach the grout if is was very high -close to the height of the tile itself. Our grout is darkish, so it is not much of an issue. Here is a tip for you on a way to pre-clean any really dirty stubborn spots: Go to Sears and pick up a Scumbuster by Black and Decker. This little battery operated hand-held device has rotating scrubbers (and several attachments) that will clean any tile or grout, no matter how bad it is. I love it. For floors, it is still hands and knees (or sit on a low stool or chair, which is what I do). I also use it in the shower, though there is not much to do there, since we don't use bar soap. Back to the floormate, my normal process is to use the stick vac to clean up crumbs and heavier dirt, then the swiffer for dust and to get under things, and then the Scumbuster (only if needed, which is not too often) and lastly the Floormate. While I know the floormate will do dry vac work, I have not found it to be very good at that unless you have a wide open area and not much dirt to get up. I still love this useful device, but am dreaming of the day when we can hire a housecleaning service. We can afford it, but hubby "does not want strangers in the house...." Comments (15)sue it is made for wood floors..no need to dry the floors at all..they are nearly dry from the FM. It sucks up all the water..it's a great machine.. Ree dx they have been around for a while now..I am on 7 years! where have you been?? LOL!!! also, I didn't mean that it was 'hard' to remove the parts or wash them..I just find I have to stop a lot to empty and fill and it is a little time consuming..believe me, if I had one for years and keep buying them..gotta tell you something :) and yes, it amazes me everytime I empty the bucket and see how dirty it is.. I still can't figure it out..I think a lot of it is dust.... probably the same for you! enjoy your clean floors!! Ree...See MoreDoes anyone have the Hoover Floormate Model #H 3000?
Comments (3)I just went through all my manuals, receipts, etc. and I found the Floormate manual and receipt. I actually purchased it in Kohl's on August 23, 2002. I don't know why Costco stuck out in my mind. And it's only 14 years old, after all. But now I'll know how to use it and where all the controls, etc. are. The price was 159.99....See MoreOLD Hoover Floormate-Got it to suck up water again!
Comments (0)Since I have heard of so many similar problems, I thought I would share what I learned about my old (purchased in 2002) Hoover Floormate. It is the model H 3000, which I believe is one of the earliest ones. I had it in the closet for approximately 12 years--It didn't dry vacuum very well but I thought I would give it one more try. I filled it with cleaning solution and started to work with it. I discovered that it simply wouldn't pick up any water. I was so bad that I had to go over the entire area with a clean towel. So I did some research on line and found out the two most important parts that make the machine pick up water are the filter and squeegee. I ordered both of those. The filter arrived first, but it didn't solve the entire problem. The squeegee arrived a few days later and, with the help of my daughter's boyfriend Billy, I got it installed. I couldn't remove the old squeegee because of all the dried up "gunk" around the screws but Billy took care of that. Now the Floormate works like new! I am so happy because I would have had to buy a new Floormate or do without! I thought I would share this as it seems to me that many others have the same problem and this would be very helpful to them....See Morejannie
