We have been agonizing over the same issue. On Saturday I revisited the Profile as an option with the Advantium overhead. I thought the only difference between the Profile and Monogram was that the Monogram has 3 glideout racks and the Profile only has 1. This is true BUT the Profile racks don't come out all the way whereas the Monogram racks are full extension. I thought I could save $500 by going with the Profile oven, but the partial extension racks (especially as we get older) will be a deal breaker. We will be getting the Advantium 240 above the Monogram single oven.

The racks are a big consideration, as weiss528i pointed out. I thought I noticed that the Profile ovens were smaller inside than the Monogram, but I can't be sure of that. (I see in looking at the websites, they both claim the same size, but check 'usable size' for the pans you like to use.) Now that I've had the full-extension Monogram racks, it would be hard to go back, but if you've never had them, you might not notice as much. One disadvantage is the room they take up... You get 7 rack positions in the Profile, but only 5 in the Monogram...in case that might matter. But I also MUCH preferred the options in appearance with the Monogram ovens...and prefer knob controls over touch screens.

I seriously considered the single and Advantium, because I think we could do with the 1 1/2 ovens, sizewise, and I thought the speed oven option might be fun and nice to have. But the cost prohibited it...At least $1000 more to have a sgl and the Advantium than have the dbl. And we already had a microwave we like that will only be $200 to replace if needed. So we stuck with the dbl oven and regular microwave.

We are very happy with an Advantium 240 mounted above a Profile "single-double." The "single-double" is a single appliance that has two separately-controlled ovens but fits in the "hole" normally occupied by a standard single oven. The upper unit is not very tall, but perfectly fine for small casseroles, pizza, cookies, etc. - anytime you don't want to heat up a big space.

The lower unit is taller. It still looks small compared to a standard single oven, but our largest roaster pan fits in easily.

For just the two of us, we seldom use more than the top unit and Advantium, but when the brood returns for holidays, we have tremendous capability and flexibility.

The crucial thing for us was to place the units at exactly the best height to allow us to easily see both the upper controls for the Advantium AND the control panel for the two oven units.

Thank you for your input. All points well taken. I feel after watching the holiday cooking in two separate homes yesterday....that I am going to go with the double oven. I think even if I only need that amount of space 5 times a year...it will make those holidays much easier to prep. I am not a microwave cook...I only use it once in a while and I feel the Advantium uses the micro power in all the applications to some degree.

In answer to weiss528i ... if I get the profile ovens I will get the profile counter depth french door fridge and intergrated dishwasher. If I go with the Monogram...I will do the Monogram dishwasher and the GE Cafe fridge...because the Cafe matches better to the Monogram style...and the Monogram fridge is alot more expensive because it is all stainless steel ..front and side.

My only problem now is finding a place for a very small micro somewhere in my kitchen plan.

I've not checked on the Monogram double ovens--approx. how much more are they in price compared to the similar Profiles? I'm getting a Monogram 36" rangetop, but I--so far--have only been looking at Profile ovens.

I need to make my decision today, too (appliances), so the cabinets can get ordered. I go to bed thinking about it and wake up thinking about it....and GardenWeb is the first place I come to on the computer to see if there's anything different to change my mind.
