cleaning glass with hard water or calcium stains
Comments (5)I've been through this with our home that is now 15 years old. For many years before we remodeled our bathroom I was stymied by what seemed to be hard water stains on our glass (it's different, by the way, on tile). Glass is etched by our repeated use of cleaners and eventually, the water is etched into the glass and will never, never be cleaned out. If you are not in a position to remove and replace the glass, stop, STOP using caustic cleaners on your glass. Vinegar will remove immediate deposits but will not remove the etched-in deposits of repeated toxic cleaner use. You can try other non toxic glass cleaners that might brighten your glass as a whole, but you will not remove the etched in deposits from the past. Sorry -- been there....See MorePeople who have used the EasyWater for Hard water problems

Comments (13)If your humidifier is the only place you have a problem, your cheapest, easiest solution is just to replace the pad more often. Humidifiers are really difficult because only pure vapor (mostly) exits the humidifier, so you are concentrating everything in the water. This will happen even with softened water. It may be a bit slower, but you will still get build up, just a different type of buildup (softer, less tenacious). The purer your water, the less build-up you will see. Even healthy water has plenty of stuff dissolved in it. Bottom line, RO is the only practical method for your situation. Nothing else you can install will remove dissolved solids from your water (softeners swap one solid for another). At a cost of around $400, it may not make financial sense when humidifier pads are fairly inexpensive. One other option may be to install a flush valve to periodically empty the humidifier of all water and then refill it. This would prevent solids from becoming so concentrated....See MoreWindows Marked by Pool Water?
Comments (5)Yes as glass is porous, harsh chemicals will actually soak into the pores of the glass and stain or discolor it. As far as I know nothing will remove it. Try soft scrub, baking soda mixed with water into a paste or a hand soap with pumice may work as well. Probably will not remove it entirely but may help....See Morejamielovescoffee__az
