omac, please join in our posting. I've bought a bunch of dishes at the dollar store and Goodwill to try tablescapes with, and STILL haven't gotten brave enough. but I will.
Especially after watching Luvs start recently and do bang up jobs with hers. I want to try, and so should you. Seems such fun. And no one will even be eating off mine, it's just going to be for myself and pix to share.
and watch out for those stacked cake plates, Judith has so many of us hopelessly addicted to them now. I'm one of the "worst". LOL. Most fun thing EVER to decorate.

We'd love to see pics of any pretty dishes or accessories you might have, whether they are in a tablescape or not. I stopped at walmart on my way to work this a.m. and bought a table cloth and matching napkins. It's a start.

I have made many plates as gifts, using fabric and Mod Podge. A set of 4 dinner plates and 4 salad plate only run about $10-12 dollars, and the fabric is pretty inexpensive too. I found fabric I really liked and have gone crazy.

I thought I'd start with something like that, and see where it goes.

That sounds like a neat way to get the design and colors you really want. Can't wait to see your first pic. Luvs

Don't be nervous, the best way to learn is to start practicing, the more you do the better and more confidant you will become, there are lots of talented ladies that can help if you feel stuck.

Welcome Omac, I feel like you do, that I can't do it justice, but everytime I see someone else come up with new ideas, it helps me try to "think out of the box" like our resident Expert Judith says!! LOL

Please join us, you will learn to do it, I'm learning slowly, even if I copy someone elses at least I'm getting the idea!!

It is slow now that it is summer, but in winter we are addicted to this site, so stick around! Do you have yard sales in your area? If so, try hitting them on weekends, you'd be amazed the things you can find & very inexpensive to add to our addiction!

If you can go back & find some of Judiths posts with pictures, look at all the types of items she uses on her tablescapes and try to find things like that. She uses statues, ornaments, birds, bunnies etc. and I'm searching for some of those things at yard sales this year. Good luck & welcome to the crazy dishaholics site!

Omac, Welcome to our madness! I'm sure you could do as well as us. Just give it a try. I have to warn you though...it is addicting. Oh, I just read further down and see you just bought a new tablecloth and napkins. We love pics. Your plates with fabric and Mod Podge sound very pretty. Please let us see a pic of some of your work. I believe you just may have started a new idea for us.

Well, I did my first tablescape. Nothing to write home about.
I did a baby blue tablecloth, clear blue dishes, wine glasses with small blue flowers around them, and the napkins folded into a fan have 3 various shades of blue.

Because my DH is of Dutch decent, I have several different sized windmills, and figurines I placed around a windmill napkin holder.

DH was suprised, the table was actually set, without a stack of papers on it, and all our little catch alls. He thought we were having company. Silly fool

Sorry, no pictures. I'm not computer savy, and don't know how to do that yet. Must check out another site.

omac, welcome to the forum! Your table sounds very pretty...good job! Had to laugh at your DH thinking company was coming, I get the same reaction from mine at times! The windmill napkin holders sound so cute.

I'm new to the forum, but have enjoyed reading some of the posts. I recognize some posters from other sites. I'm a longtime tablescape-aholic, and enjoy every moment of collecting pieces for new themes, or just adding pieces to previous designs I've created. I have 33 sets of dishes, and I'm always looking for new ways to integrate new pieces.
Im looking forward to reading posts and participating.

You will find it so fun to be able to share your pics with us, so if you have a digital camera, just load your pics into your computer and go open a Photobucket account at www.photobucket.com. Then come back here and we will help you with the rest. It really is not that hard--trust me, if I can learn it, anybody can.

Kare, I see you just joined Gardenweb yesterday. So glad you found our forum so quickly. You must have lots of storage space for that many sets of dishes! ;o) We love pretty dishes here, so we will look forward to your pics.
