There really isn't any comparison between Amana and GE to Liebherr. This not to say that Amana and GE are bad products, but the double compressor in the Liebherr is really what separates it from the other two brands.

Having two compressors means that the freezer and the refrigerator are chilled separately rather than a vent from the freezer moving cold air into the refrigerator ( the system used by GE and Amana).

If you purchase a model that has "Bio Fresh" you will probably notice a difference in the freshness of your food. Bio fresh provides an area in the unit that is kept just above freezing and offers you different humidity controls for different foods. Bio Fresh isn't found on all models so if that's a feature you want, make sure to order the proper unit.

blilja disregard Kieffers_Guy and you can still enjoy Liebherr nonetheless, without FeatureNameBioFresh (or with that feature).

Kenmore/Samsung have dual evaporators not compressors.

They are about the same as a Liebherr in the sense that Hyundai is about the same as Porche. Yes, they are both cars with ICE engines that have four wheels.

The BioFresh is going to be 1 degree below freezing and maintain that consistently. Take temp reading with an accurate gauge. Also very humid but depends on relative humidity of area and how often you open the fridge and bio-fresh drawers. Get an accurate hygrometer and measure.

I think the whole point of getting Liebherr is getting the Bio-FResh and maybe the dual zone built-in wine unit.

Liebherr had a lot of fridges sold before Bio-Fresh was thought of and named as a thing to have, so BioFresh is not now suddenly "the thing to have". Liebherr had its reputation made before then. Like other high end firdges, their fridges hold a stable temperature.

Liebherr offers and sells a lot of fridge models that do exactly that: hold a stable temperature. Some of their fridges have only one compressor (they don't have two compressors, but they might have two separate circuits).

I'm all for Liebherr, and I'm all for the other fridges too (the ones nobody has yet named).

One should take the time to google Liebherr Fridge reviews or Liebherr biofresh reviews, at least on some of the Liebherr's with Biofresh, "Some" folks were complaining about the stuff in the Biofresh compartment freezing---Note the word "Some", so MAYBE!!! the adjustment is a bit on the critical side, (read Tricky) side???

I think Davidro1 makes a good point to look at other "Possibilities" as well!

I thought Samsung had a great idea with 2 evaporators and only one compressor---much more efficient and probably more quiet too----2 motors are gonna be noisier that one, and use more power too.
Unfortanately, due to a post about Samsung Fridges, I spent some time googling Sansumg Refrigerator reviews, and all was not "So Rosie" there, I suggest you do the same and draw your own conclusions.

I stand corrected, but same difference anyway.
It does the EXACT same thing just with one "compressor" using 2 evaporators it keeps the fridge side exactly the way you want it and the humidity at around 42 percent. Your standard fridge with one evaporator keeps the humidity around 9 percent.

I keep my fridge side at 35 degrees because that seems to be the perfect temp to keep everything fresh but not freezing things like lettuce. If the Liebherr keeps it at 31 degrees then it is basically useless for vegetables, unless you mean 1 degree OVER freezing but even at 33 there will be many things that freeze. I prefer 35, nothing freezes, everything stays fresh.
I keep my freezer side at -2 degrees which is just perfect without making the ice cream hard as a brick.

We wanted to try this Kenmore/Samsung because it was the biggest counter depth fridge we could find and afford.
We are selling this house and the refrigerator with it in one year so if it turns out to be a lemon then Oh well we will buy something else in our next place.

So far we love it.

It keeps food fresh, it is almost completely silent rarely hear a peep out of it, has a great display over the ice/water dispenser that we find ourselves using quiet a bit for messages and calendar etc.
It only cost about $56 a year in energy cost.

Now as far as what I have seen complaint wise only a couple of models from Smasung had complaints.
Surprisingly the Liebherr which cost easily DOUBLE what our Samsung cost I see TONS of complaints about it which I find very surprising because in general German made anything is usually top quality but not apparently in this case.

Lienherr just put a name on it is all (BioFresh).

But from I have seen on that link I provided where 66 reviewers responded, I think out of 66 only like 3 actually anything good to say about Liebherr fridges I cant imagine that many would plop down $4000-$6000 for it if they bothered to research it.

go to ajmadison.com and do your search work. Then, add those few brands that are not available at that site.

if i named brand names it would be easy for any and all to conclude that i had some idea of how they are good

and that i was rooting for one or two of those brands.

it happened often when i used to keep reminding people of the Korean appliance manufacturers, LG and Samsung.

So, now I just don't name them.

and then there's Blomberg and the Turkish manufacturer behind many of the Miele, Bosch and other German companies that don't specialize in fridges but HAVE great fridges in their lineup.

and then there's Vestfrost the Danish company.

and then there's Perlick.

and then there's the problem of "having named some" but the ones not named, are they also good?

just read the link on Nunyabiz1's comment. what do you think, it seems that most of the complaints are from 2 years ago, when it was a known fact of what was going on. not saying that this makes it right. as its been said before, EVERY company has lemons.

i am considering the 36" integrated model but will consider other brands. i am finding it hard to find a frig with custom panels to fit in my space and this one fits the bill. i really do like it alot. to me it seems very sturdy, but i guess u have to live with it for awhile.

after reading GW addictingly for over a month, my conclusion is every brand has lemons and basically you have to hope for the best and find a company that has good service reputation.

i know i will never have an oven that is still working after 40 years (tappan) and my dishwasher - a maytag- has NEVER had a service call in 17 years and still cleans beautifully.

as far as im concerned, appliances generally cannot hold a candle to the quality of years ago... how depressing is that when we are shelling out the big bucksand we are suppose to be more technically "advanced".

if anyone has found any other info on liebherr's, please chime in to either reassure us or dissuade us. it would be most appreciated! :)

As I mentioned, take the time to Google Liebherr Refrigerator Reviews. NEVER, look at just one web-site, There is a "Pile Tendency" (IE Me too) to join the others and "Dump on the Appliance". You can find these types of Web-sites for virtually any appliance made.

While such a site might have some use as far as seeing "Some" of the past history, for "Said Appliance", it doesn't tell the whole story, and may not be the latest info.

If you go to AJMadison (Link provided below), You will see many positive reviews of the Liebherr Fridges.

Still, as others have mentioned, The Most Important thing is the find an Appliance Store with Great Post Sales Support. I would also take the time to call Liebherr and see if they just "Brush Aside", or deny "Past Problems".

We know that KA does that and are continuing to do that with their Oven Problenms, Where as Elux admitted they had a problem with some Double Ovens built in 2009, and took care of it!

Were I looking for a Liebherr Fridge, I would buy it from Trevor, but first I would "Pick His Brain" about "1st How are his customers doing with their Liebherrs and Secondly, Should I have a problem (in My area), who would he recommend to address problems.

For me "fresh" means two days for produce and a few more days for meat and poultry. After that we're just talking about keeping food usable/viable.

I've got a 30" Liebherr without biofresh and, as I said on marthavila's thread, it's astonishing how well and how long it keeps produce. I've had green beans remain usable for 3 weeks, lettuce not wilt for the longest time.

We are very happy with this fridge. It's not as heavy duty as our DDs big SZs but seems to do as good a job. The freezer is excellent and the drawers, which I thought I'd hate, are terrific.

It's virtually silent and trouble free.

The only thing I don't love is the curved door and the way the stainless streaks. They send a small bottle of a recommended product called Neoblank Stainless Cleaner, which works fantastically on the doors, but I've only been able to find it in England which I feel is ridiculous.

Since Trevor is such a big Liebherr retailer/proponent, perhaps he should also stock the Neoblank!

Sprtphntc, there are no "forum conduct rules" which say you can't bump a thread. Yes, in the past, there's been the occasional poster who has gotten a bit giddy with the power of the bump function. When overdone, bumping can be annoying. However, no forum police, including Davidro1, are going to come to your house and arrest you if you bump a thread here once or twice! Nor, will the GW forum moderators revoke your membership simply for doing so. Just know that it's generally good "netiquette" to give the members a bit of time to respond to a posted inquiry. And, since this forum tends to run a bit slower than some others, (the kitchen forum, for example, is really fast), you could probably stand to wait 2-3 days for a response. HTH

That said, I agree with you that this Liebherr thread seems not only to have been especially slow, but also dominated by non-Liebherr owners. (I also know how frustrating it can be to try and get informed consumer advice on this forum from people who have direct experience with the product that is up for discussion!) All I can tell you that I do know there to be quite a few members of the GW community who swear by Liebherr. Why they haven't posted to this thread, I don't know. (The burdens of tax season, maybe?) :-) In my own case, I have personally refrained from posting to this thread up until now --beyond submitting the three-letter affirmative response to the OP's opening question -- because I'm a known Liebherr cheerleader in these parts. Especially since I've weighed in on the subject of the HC2062 numerous times in the past 2 years I've owned it -- including a very recent thread in which I disclosed that Liebherr will be replacing and upgrading my unit to the HCB262, at their cost -- I figured I would lay low on this one. As we've already agreed, I'll be writing you offline, later today/tomorrow, with a detailed discussion of the HC2062. In the meantime, here's hoping some others who actually own, sell or service Liebherr will weigh in!

We've had our Liebherr french door refrigerator for about 2 years now. Love it!! The ice cubes in our icemaker always taste super fresh. I believe Leibherr is the only manufacturer that makes it's own ice maker as well. All others buy someone elses and install in their products (including subzero).

Had to get used to how high the top shelf is (we have 2 freezer drawers at bottom) but now that used to it, no issue.

Only slight complaint is with the rubber on the doors sometimes getting stuck and doors not shutting automatically. We had this fixed once but still not perfect. If you are not getting a french door model would imagine this won't be an issue.

Can't speak to Leibherr versus other brands as haven't really compared.

This might be a silly question - but can anybody tell me if the Liebherr offers a water dispenser, inside the fridge or out? I can't seem to see any reference to one on their website.

Liebherr owners don't need water. They survive on a diet of fresh vegetables and art.

Good observation, Mojavean! Even if it's slightly spot off. Although I definitely need water to live, I don't count on getting it from my water dispenser-free Liebherr. Nah. For water, I go to the sink tap or to the bottled variety. However, when it comes to a diet of fresh vegetables and art? I don't just survive it on it. Indeed, I thrive on it! :-)

Ayerg73, I don't recall ever seeing a Liebherr owner discuss a unit with a water dispenser. Seems to me that, if Liebherr's own website doesn't reference any models with a water dispenser unit, that's probably a good bet they don't make them. JMHO.

No water on the Liebherrs.

Liebheer saw the problem with such water dispensers on other brands, and they feared if they offered it, and had problems, People would remember them as "Leak-here's"
so they decided to stay "High & Dry", (So to speak)!!!!

Would have loved to find a Liebherr that fit, and was ready to spend the money, but couldn't find anything that would fit the "hole" I had in my kitchen.

We ended up with a Samsung counter depth french door fridge and it has been a fantastic fridge.

As a Miele guy I was less than thrilled with the thought of a Korean appliance, but its been absolutely stellar and a huge step up form the old kenmore I had.

I too am considering a Liebherr 30" wide freestanding model. We have a very narrow and small kitchen and the fridge will be located directly across from the peninsula. So a true CD would work best and the most reasonable we could find was the Liebherr at $4,099 with icemaker. That is more money than we are spending on our ikea cabinets! Would really love some feedback as to this refrigerator and service issues, if any.

Get two 24"w fridges.
This saves you a couple thousand.
The 24"w fridges I have seen are all CD.
Using ajmadison search tool you can see this too.

Put one in the kitchen.

Put the other one in a hall closet or somewhere else.

The 24"w fridges I have seen in operation are all quiet and good quality.
I think it's because there are millions of them made for the rest of the world and this gives you the benefit of economies of scale.

I second the Samsung CD over a Liebherr any day.
there is no way the Liebherr is worth double what the Samsung is.
The Samsung does everything the Liebherr does, plus has water and a really nice display and is so quiet we never hear it.

A complete utter rip of...my Ge is 20 plus years and has lasted 5 times as long of the liebherr freezer...and cost a third of the price..total con job...the parts are triple plus costs the repairers don't repair...the who path of a liebherr from purchase ..repair parts highway robbery forget prevention but a samsung or Ge or Fisher and Pyke who don't habitually ruthlessly gouge...
