Would you do a carrara marble backsplash over pedestal sink?

We have just remodeled a 1/2 bath, the first part of a whole main floor reno (kitchen is about half done now). Floor is dark gray tile, walls are BM Wedgewood Gray (a beautiful blue/gray), lighting and fixtures are brushed nickel. We put in an American Standard "Retrospect" pedestal sink, which looks like a retro sink, very cool, and put in a new mirror/cabinet above. In between is just painted wall, and we are wondering if adding a small tile backsplash between the sink and underside of the cabinet would look funny. There is about 11-12" between the top of the sink and underside of the cabinet; the pedestal is a flat line against the wall, about 27" wide, not round like some. We are using 3x6 Carrara marble tiles for the kitchen backsplash and should have enough leftover for this small area. I laid some tiles along the sink backsplash and thought they looked nice w/the other elements in the room, but wanted to know if anyone has a "mini backsplash" like this they could show me, or if it's a goofy idea. Should've taken a picture, I know, I know! :P

Thanks for helping!
