what may work is automatic dish soap ..( cascade gel, not powder for dish washers) pour it on your spots and leave it there for an hour or so..take a sponge ( or if you have the razor blade for cook tops) and wipe/ scrape it off (wear gloves) this may work! good luck!

Try Dawn Power Dissolver.

The top of my gas stove has spots on it as well. I use the new VIM power degreaser which gets some newer spots off, but for the older ones, I have been using a plastic scraper. It's slow, but it seems to be working
I wouldn't feel badly if I were you; I don't see how these spots can be avoided. If something overflows, it's immediately baked on by the heat of the flame. With my old electric stove, I could remove the little trays from under the coils and clean them with oven cleaner, but you can't remove the enamel top of a gas stove and I wouldn't want to use oven cleaner on it, so scraping it is.

I know exactly how you feel. We have a Viking gas rangetop with a black porcelain top. Like you, I wasn't cleaning it after every use. And then, when I went away for a week, DH stayed home and grilled every night on the rangetop. I came home to a huge cooked-on mess.

I followed Viking's instructions and found that regular Dawn took off most of the grease spots but left behind white cloudy blooms in the porcelain. I thought for sure that I had ruined the range.

I finally found Soft Scrub without bleach and used that with a microfibre cloth with great success. The black parts look fabulous again.

If you don't find anything that cleans it, please don't beat yourself up about it. Your stove is meant to be used and enjoyed. Unfortunately, once used, these appliances will almost never look like new. Good luck!

I usually use baking soda and a plastic scrubbie. It takes it off my old almond top just fine. Did I read that the finishes they're using now are different? Seems so, but not sure. Sandy

Why don't U try a small strip of paper towle soaked in white V. If this is a water, boil over, an DH has baked it on, with the heat from the grill, that may B the problem. If this works 4 U, U could just use Lime-A-Way and that would work, much faster. They R both acid. The Lime-A way must be washed off as soon as u can. If U see it start to foam, U will know that it it just water over flow. My DW did this in my last home, I no longer have black.

The people who make Cerama Bryte the cooktop cleaner have a specialty cleaner for grease issues. Might want to give it a try. I've actually called their 800 number before for help (burnt on a plastic spoon :) ) and they have alot of different stove cleaning tools & such that might help you.
