Thanks Bill. The next question is in the shower where the crema marfil 12 x 12 tiles are (ceiling and walls) does this need to be sealed? The border in the shower has the 6 x6 tumbled which I know has to be sealed as does the tumbled 4x4 floor. Which bring us to the vanity top. I have purchased Stonetech BulletProof to use on the entire vanity. That is what they suggested at the tile store. (And no the tile store doesn't carry it! I had to go to another store.) I guess I worried about so much of the other details I forgot about sealing!!! I had planned on doing the vanity myself. However the tile man thinks he should do the entire thing. I need to decide to seal or enhance the tumbled marble before anyone can do a thing. Do you seal ceiling of crema marfil? Again thanks.

My apologies to everyone who made the effort to respond to my original post- I never received any notification until the most recent post. Design Girl, we ended up with imperial Danby with a fair amount of movement. I was a little concerned before installation as I was thinking of a much plainer piece but now I’m so glad I couldn’t find what I thought I wanted as this stone looks gorgeous installed (at least to me; everyone has different taste). Maria, the installer used one of the More penetrating sealers. I don’t remember the specifics, but I called More directly and whoever I spoke to was very helpful. They make several sealers, surface and impregnating. Ours has a twenty year warranty against staining, but no etching warranty, and it didn’t change the appearance of the stone at all.(the etching one was a surface sealer and it does change the look of the marble so it was not what I wanted). The countertops were installed in July and we have absolutely no stains and just a few tiny etches. ( I have learned what substances tend to etch the stone- lemons and limes are the biggest culprits in our house- so we are careful with them.)

To achieve that light brown on Ash you'll either have to stain or apply a custom tinted sealer/urethane. I don't think any of the Bona sealers would be that brown. For a stain I'd suggest something like DuraSeal Golden Oak or maybe Chestnut diluted with natural. Either one would probably benefit from mixing in a bit of Country White to soften the look. Water popping before staining would reduce the graininess. I have a finisher who tints Bona sealers and urethanes regularly though that would be my second choice. It may turn out you'll need to use a combination of the two processes, a custom stain topped with tinted clear coats. If it's hard to reduce the yellow tones from the Ash, a little purple tint can give it a more brown cast.

I have not cleaned limestone. I researched to learn if my method to remove rust stains on a marble dresser top would be appropriate and found the article below. Use the link. I used a poultice of iron out and backing soda on my marble with good success. Bout it was caused by something sitting on top of the marble and not iron IN the marble. My method is NOT recommended for porous limestone. This link recommends a poultice of hydrogen peroxide and flour.
