I LOVE your table, Denise! The plates and charger are perfect with the cards theme. That giant playing card vase is such a good idea. It's things like this that have opened my eyes to the myriad of tablescape possibilities these past two years that I've been "playing" here with you all. I still remember when creating a tablescape for a company dinner gave me nightmares! I like your candle holder idea, too. It probably would be a bit pricey, but wouldn't a cup or so of tiny dice be cute in there for another game table that used dice?

I like it in a separate thread. It gets so long and confusing with all the comments, it is much easier this way, and doesn't take as long to load.

I remember that when we did the Halloween Post I liked the fact that I was "forced" to scroll through all the other tablescapes again, just to get to the new one. But maybe that's more of a pain than a pleasure. So let's do them separately.

Could you post the addy of the site you found the large cards? I'm starting to get into altered books and paper crafts so any good sites are appreciated.

I agree it's best to keep the posts separate in case anyone is still on dial-up. I remember when we had that and it's so slow for threads with multiple pics.

See, I took Kenny's advice and " know when to run." LOL

Not only do you come up with the most clever ideas for table themes, you follow thru and create such good ones.
And as for clever ideas, you've NO clue how thrilled I am to see what you did with "our" glass candleholder. The only thing I didn't like about them was needing a taper candle. I don't like taper candles. But I never ever thought of adding the glass votive cup to the top. THANK YOU SO MUCH, I love love love it!

OA, what a great table you made for Karen. It all turned out so well as everyone else has stated. I love the fact that you were able to use your cup you received as a gift from one of your students. So sweet that you have kept it and was able to use it now. It's perfect with your Solitaire Tablescape and Kenny's song is the right one for this too.

How great that you even have red handled flatware--the whole table was all so cute that I didn't even miss the napkin! You sure have a knack for taking a theme and running with it. This is great! My "stoned" candle holder?? Only a child of the 60s would come up with that as casually as you did!

The red pot is an enameled pot. Just what kind of metal is under the enamel is a mystery to me, but it's not cast iron. The pot's much too light for that.
It's a Dansk product and the line of pots and lasagna dishes were very popular when I got married in 1970 (or at least they were very popular on the West Coast). The lid can be used as a trivet when the pot is fresh out of the oven.

Karen, glad you like our table and the use of our candlesticks. Taper candles will look fine when you use both of your candlesticks together. But if you're just not a taper person, then this is an easy way to go. I've still got mine on display at the end of my peninsula in the kitchen and the tulip glass doesn't show any signs of loosening. I didn't use very much glue either, as I didn't know if I was going to like it or not. I'm thinking it may even be able to take a larger chimney if I use that GE stuff you've recommended. That might be too permanent for me though, as I can see myself wanting to use a taper once in a while.

I too laughed at Kathleen casually calling the candleholder "stoned". That was great. We sure
know how to date ourselves at times. LOL. Tho I sort of missed the hippie movement by hanging out with my horses and cowboys.

If I find the right glass topper, I'll definitely permanently glue them to my pair. I can't see me wanting to use taper candles if I can avoid it. In fact now I will be looking for some other votives to put on 3 more candleholders. LOL. You created a monster.
