This is the table I pulled together this morning with the china DPs I found at GW yesterday. They had most of the place setting for 8, but had them priced piece by piece. I thought they were sort of interesting and I have two sets of goblets in the aqua shade, so I bought 4 DPs and 4 salad plates.

I got the tablemats a couple of weeks ago at TJ Maxx on clearance for $4 for the four. These goblets are a light aqua that I found at GW in a neighboring town recently. My others looked blue up against these plates and the placemats, but these were the right shade. As I was removing the first posted tableware, I realized that the amythyst glasses would work with this, too. I don't really know if I should have mixed the style and colors, but did anyway. You can't really tell in this photo, but the plates have aqua and green leaves and tiny grapes. The grape S&P shakers look out of place in the photo, but look better IRL since you can see the grapes on the plate.

I reused the dark purple napkins that I probably overuse. As I was scrounging around looking for something for a centerpiece, I found this glass container that I picked up somewhere in my thrifting. I didn't have any flowers in the right color, so I just added some aqua stones from the Dollar Tree and place a set of aqua salt and pepper shaker around it and the grapes S&P shakers for the look, not to use.

I like both of these tables PD, what time is dinner???? LOL
I could see the aqua, green, and purple in the plates just fine. You pulled all those colors together really well. And it was great that you had that vase with the right colored flowers on it too. Good thinking. (Now I sound like Dora, huh, too much television with the GD I guess!) LOL

I love that lavender tablecloth and the glasses, candles, and napkins tie it together so well. Good job on this one too. Thanks for sharing, and please send some of that rain to So. Calif. would you?

The flowers are in a mini wagon, the napkins have apples on them, the plates are from WSonoma...The runners were 70 cents in Marshalls a few years ago.
I sewed a pocket in them and used the for valances till I got what I wanted..

I find summer very difficult. I like your cream dishes with the floral border...how DO you keep a lavender tablecloth clean? I never spill, like, bread crumbs, just butter, salad dressing, and tomato sauce!

PD, very nice. Love the setting with the lavender tablecloth and the goblets. Those goblets are beautiful! Never thought of using aqua and purple together but that combo looks very fresh.

I have plans to do a summer'ish' table for this weekend for a dinner thing... will have to remember to take pics! I havent had much of a chance to do tablesettings with the gorgeous weather we have been having and some garden remodelling that I am doing now and just being plain lazy. :)

Magpie, you sound like me, I used to be afraid to use my good napkins and tablecloth for fear of staining it! But then I realized there's no use having something if you can't use it and enjoy it, right?

Mo, I'm glad to hear you are getting to enjoy the great weather. This time of year is so nice, love all the green leaves and gorgeous flowers--but do remember to snap pics of your pretty dishes and tables when you can. ;o)

Well, here's one of mine. This was from Cinco de Mayo, but take away the miniature pinata and the garland in the chandelier and this is our table many a summer's evening. I realize that it may look very once-a-year Cinco de Mayo-ish, but this is New Mexico and it's an everyday look out here.
I'd like to put together a few more with my new Franscican Apple dishes and my blue plates, as well, but I still have plants to get into the ground first. As Arnold would say, "I'll be baaaack!"

PD...I'm so happy to see your tables here, and I'm so sorry to that your party plans were postponed twice.
That's so disappointing. I'm glad you displayed these two lovely tablesettings. I must say, you are 'My Kind Of Gal' >> A Great Shopper!! You were lucky to buy those dishes piece by piece. So many times, they don't want to do that and it can be frustrating. I've passed up dishes because I don't want or need a full set.
The purple & aqua is very striking. I really like the combination. Both the dish patterns are very lovely and very airy looking...just right for Spring/Summer tables.

Kathleen, I love the red. I don't have anything red except for Valentines. I need to work on that. I especially want some patriotic things and would prefer reds that I can mix and match.

On my first table shown, they are also GW finds. I was browsing ebay last night and found a listing for a set of these plates. They said they were Lennox something or the other. I thought they were the same plates, so went and looked at mine and yep they are Lennox. I paid $1 a plate for them.

Ahhh, PD, love even the title of this thread "Summertime Tables" and your two tables are such a lovely start. The dishes in both tablescapes are so pretty and you have coordinated the accessories so well. Probably because I love tablecloths, my fav is the lavender table. I was wondering if those are little purple berries on the plates in the 2nd tablescape and would it work to have both the lavender tablecloth and the aqua placemats? Maybe that is too much for you but I'm a "chronic layer-er" LOL! What a deal you got, paying $1/plate for Lennox! Way to go!

Kathleen, another wonderful red setting! You didn't think it was " especially summer-y" but because the red is so bold and vibrant with the white, it totally is! Love the wagon/flower centerpiece!

We seem to have feast of famine. I have found some interesting things at one of the local/area GWs during the past few months. Here is a set of dishes that were what they call Yellow Line. It means that they were new. I don't know if the stores donate them after the clearance things, or if GW buys them to sell.
I bought these several months ago and was waiting for summer to use them. DD loves the colors. The flower is from her bedroom.

These plates are by everyday Gibson and are very lightweight almost like Corelle. The orange tablecloth was a thrift store find. DD has a set of orange handled flatware, but it is packed.

Geezzzz PD.. you have the most unbelievable GW. Each time you show what you've found..I'm amazed.
These are really nice and 'Summery' too. I like the shape of the plates and the floral pattern that's 'off to the side'.. The yellow placemats with the orange tablecloth, really make the colors pop in your plates, and your DD's flowers go perfectly with everything. Nice finds..

Seems like you've collected quite a few nice dishes recently, and all at amazing buys. Are you running out of space to store them all ?? lol

Printer, very "trendy" tablescape with the orange/pink/yellow and your new plates fit right in with the floral pattern. I can see why your DD loves the colours. That orange tablecloth is wonderfully summer-y too!

I spent Saturday planting flowers and working on my screened porch. I decided that since this is Flag Day weekend, I would do an outdoor table in honor of Old Glory.

The tablecloth is simply material from Walmart in a very busy flag print. It may even be too much with all the other things on the table. It sort of all blends in in these photos, but IRL looks okay.

I pulled out some red Christmas chargers, then layered a clear plastic plate with a flag border on it from the Dollar Tree. On top of that I used my solid blue salad plates. The finishing touch is a star shaped bowl from Dollar General ($1 each).

The centerpiece is a patriotic Uncle Sam hat that I picked up for $2 last week at the Resale Barn. I added two American bears to either side, but then removed them. They were a little much, but shown in the photos. Then I flanked this centerpiece with clear votive holders featuring red and blue stars also from Dollar General. They were $3 each.

The napkins are some red ones that I had and I used white ceramic napkin rings. The flatware was found last week at Big Lots in a neighboring town. It was marked $10 and when I got to the register it rang up at only $6 for the four piece placesetting. The glasses are a clear small tumbler with red, white and blue stars.

We had grilled chicken breasts and thighs (with some Mexican spices corn on the cob cooked in husks on the grill, guacomole salad and chips, and a pasta salad with iced tea and Margaritas.

Oops. I forgot a layer on the table. After the red chargers, and then the Dollar Tree flag plastic plate, I have a small luncheon size plate and then the blue salad plate and then the star bowls.

PD, you got some nice layering going on there. I really like the star bowl. The flag fabric does look a little busy in the pics like you said.

I just added my summer table but I forgot about this thread and started a new one when I should have just put it here!!!

I kind of like those bears. Next time you use the tablecloth, try making a short runner with a couple of your red napkins, like Dining Delight did for her birthday table, and put the centerpieces on top of that. In that way, they will stand out from the tablecloth. (There are so few times when one can go overboard on the tablecloth, and I figure Flag Day and the 4th of July are a couple of those days.)
Is there a hole in the top of the hat? Maybe you could make a red, white and blue carnation flower arrangement (or just a white arrangement) with star pics on top of the hat to add height to the middle of the centerpiece.

I think I'd use the flag boardered plate in a less busy table setting and just use the red, white, and blue dishes, plus the little blue-stared bowl.

I like Flag Day. My parents' anniversary was always on Flag Day. If I weren't still recovering from the flu bug, I'd have done something too.
