Cleaning yellowed jets (covers)on acrylic whirlpool tub
Comments (15)Removal of jets varies by brand. Google the internet and you'll likely find what you need. If the tub is older and hasn't been cleaned in a long time, you may have to fill it up with hot water to cover the jets and let it stand in order to soften any debris that might be locking the jets in place. I did that and added a couple of dishwasher tablets to the water. Worked like a charm. Once mine were in the plastic bag, I put them in a window to bleach and it worked even on an overcast rainy day. I wouldn't bother with the UV light....See MoreAir Tub vs Whirlpool with Jets
Comments (5)I chose air over water jetted for a few reasons. The number one reason was all the negative feedback from people here about their whirlpool tubs. Hardly anyone uses them (and I MEAN hardly anyone!). Main reason seems to be the cleanliness factor, or the lack of. The maintenance is more than most are willing to do and you still get "gunk" in the lines and blow out into your bathwater. Repairs and possibility of leaks was another concern voiced here and other websites. The other factors were personal. I needed a more all over massage than direct pressure. I do have a bad back but also have Fibro Myalgia so as nice as a forceful jet of water hitting my lower back might be, I'm pretty sure the tenderness of my skin and tissue couldn't handle it. I have body-wide pain and need an all over massage. I knew I wouldn't always be able to maintain a whirlpool like I should and didn't want to worry about leaks, more parts to go bad and black gunk spewing into my clean bath water. I use my air jets EVERY night! Is it loud. Yes. I don't hear the motor, I hear the rushing of the air thru the tubes and the bubbling water. I don't think it's any louder than a whirlpool but in a couple months, I stopped hearing it. Just as you stop hearing traffic if you've moved to a busy street, or airplanes if you've moved close to the airport, or a train... Comments (6)I regret getting a whirlpool tub. Never use the jets. Too noisy, and they are horrible to keep clean. I also think most people consider them to be dated. If you must have "something" more than a regular soaker, consider an air tub. No jets and not the same cleaning issues - at least that's what I've heard., Having said that, I would never buy a tub (if meant for comfortable relaxation, and not just bathing) without at least sitting in it first. Many I've tried are downright uncomfortable. It s a very personal thing - and comfort depends on your size and preferences. I'm currently on a quest for the perfect tub for my remodel, and planning a road trip to test out some models that are not in a showroom locally. Worth the expense in my mind if the alternative is a tub I will hate and consider a waste of $$$....See MoreHow do you clean your hardwood kitchen floors? (X-posted on cleaning)
Comments (6)My hardwood floors are probably filthy, but look really good. I have them throughout the first floor. I sweep them daily, and run the occasional Swiffer WetJet on the kitchen portion of the floor in front of the sink, dishwasher and stove. I have tried a lot of things when mopping, and found that I prefer to use hot, HOT water and a damp rag mop once a month to get them really clean. I often have to refill the water, as it is black during this cleaning. Should probably do it more often, but I don't have the time....See Morebekler
