Need faucet advice

I am trying to decide which faucet to purchase for our masterbath remodel. We will strip the walls completely to the studs before adding backerboard? and tile, faucets, etc. I would love to have a wall mounted showerhead, not a rain shower fixture, and a hand held showerhead. I do not want the handheld on a bar though. Is it strange to have a regular showerhead and a handheld? Any pics of the two together? Will it be difficult to convert the existing plumbing to incorporate the new fixtures? Right now I have the wall mount showerhead plus double knob tub faucets. We will replace the tub knobs with a single wall mount control. We will hire a plumber to do the work but I wanted to choose my faucets now and then have him come out.

Oh, and the fixures we are considering are Price Pfister Catalina in an ORB finish.

I don't know that I have ever seen a shower with both a fixed head and a hand held with a single control. The thing that comes to mind is that with a single control/diverter you would always have both shower heads ON with no additional diverter to turn just the head or handheld off. Im not saying its impossible but I look forward to seeing the answer has to how its done.

Sure you can do it. I am-- and you can find plenty of us on this forum that are doing just this, lots of discussion and photos. You will probably want to do a search "shower valve" or "shower fixture" since "faucet" is more commonly used to describe the fixture for a sink.

As faucetman mentioned, you probably don't want both to come on every time you turn your shower on. So you either need to install 2 different controls (so you'd be buying two of the PP Catalina valves and trim) or install a diverter, which goes in along with your shower control to divert the water the showerhead or handheld, or maybe both at once. Some valves have both functions built into one unit- this is what we're installing. (Hansgrohe Thermobalance III)

Thanks for your help...the zodiaq cappucino is actually very light, it is creamy and has some pink tones in it. Everything so far is coming together. I just am really having trouble with the faucet, especially since I plan on ordering it online. I failed to mention the backsplash is going to be glass with all the colors of the kitchen in it. So the sink area is driving me crazy! The white window, the iron-like bronze pendant, the stainless steel sink, the creamy white cabinets, the light creamy/rose cappucino, and the glass tile with brown,cream,rose. I don't know if the light fixture and faucet in oil rubbed bronze will be too much in that small space. Then again, if I get the silver toned one it would need to match the sink. And then would it clash with the pendant? Thanks for your ideas.

Need faucet advice for Kohler Iron Tones sink

Renovating our tiny kitchen and I really want a white cast iron sink. The Kohler Iron Tones K6587 looks perfect. We will have to do in drop in because the maximum for the cabinet is 22". The sink itself measures 21" square. Also, the drain is near the back, with center of the drain 6 1/2". Now I have to find the faucet. Is there enough deck room with a 24" counter? What about a wall faucet? The backsplash will be tile.

Nothing seems to have changed this year. The 10-year limited warranty on faucet parts other than ceramic cartridges and finishes other than PVD finishes is out of step with most other American-based faucet companies, and with the lifetime warranties on other Masco faucet lines — Brizo, Delta and Peerless. It is not possible to believe that Newport Brass, with access to all of Masco'a advance manufacturing and plating technologies, cannot manufacture a lifetime faucet with a lifetime finish.

I don't know about the plumbing issue, but since replacing a shower fixture can be costly, I wouldn't skimp on expenses or go for just asthetics with the fixture. Price Pfitzer has some really cool designs but functionally it's not a good brand. It's cost us several hundred to replace our kitchen sink faucet, it lasted a whopping 2.5 years with just 2 adults using it. And their customer service just couldn't get the fixes needed right. If budget is a concern, look at the Moen's or even the Kohlers. Moen is one of the better mid priced fixutres made and they have a 100% full lifetime warranty. My first choice in finish would have been the ORB, but when I saw how much a quality fixture cost, we went with chrome in the shower and used the money we saved on the finish to pay for the best fixtures we could find.

Do you have a specific reason for wanting both a fixed shower head and a hand-held? To me it seems a bit redundant, and more costly. I have simply a hand-held on a mount where the fixed shower head would otherwise be installed. So, it acts like a fixed head, but if I want to spray down the shower I still have that option. Here's a pic...please ignore the cardboard on the floor...just a temporary measure!
