A Few Yard Sale Finds

Has not been a great year yet for decorative or tablescape items, but I found a few.

These candle holders have a crooked stem, (supposed to be that way) thought they were neat, picked up 2 for me & 2 for the g-daughter at .50 each, the yellow pillar candles behind them were new at $1.00 each & have a yellow bead on the wick.

The next set of candle holders is to replace the ones I loved & broke one taking a tablescape apart last year. These were .75 each.

The grapes in front of them were .25 each.

Next is a set of Chef Snowman mugs, new in box, can't remember the brand now, they are already packed away, may be Williams-Sonoma. Set in box was $4.00. Each snowman chef is different!

Set of Fall candles (new) .50 each.

And last, a blue vase with flowers & a blue candle holder, each .50, sorry about the blurry pic.

OOOOOooooooo. I like every single one of the things you found. EVERY SINGLE ONE! You're good at garage sale shopping. The mugs do look like they were packed in a WS box. And the fall candles are so unique. You'll have to stick little tea candles in them when it gets time so they won't burn down. They're so darn cute.

yachter...those chef cups are just darling! They will go so wonderfully with your chef on the counter this winter! And those crooked stem candleholders are quite unique! I'm trying to vision them in a t'scape! Others are great, too! You got quite the bargains! Hope you get to do some more GS'ing! TFS!

Those Bell jars were a steal, the largest one was a dollar, the next size 50 cents and the little one a quarter. Happy Sigh! The mini tea pots were 10 cents a piece. The six glass mini bottles have Hawaiian sand in them...........lol These items were just a few of the many wonderful buys we found. I love metal leaves and one guy had a set of 4 for a dollar plus he had a set of three seagulls for a dollar. I thought the parrots were a *hoot* and had to buy them, also a dollar for the pair. OldCrafty you are right the glass flower is identical to the one you sent me. I hope to find more as I just love them and they will look great on my shed wall. I don't know what I am going to do with the Bells, they were just too pretty to pass up. ChelCass

Shutters can be made into a great background fence for plants or large decortive yard items. To set off a small bed of flowers, you can make a "v" or other pleasing shape behind them with the shutters to give the display more importance and focus. If you have a small (fairy or gnome type) garden, they could be used to make a short arbor at the entrance. If you need to direct foot traffic on your property, or screen some unsightly item such as air cond unit or well head... if you have an open porch with a roof, you can run a horizontal row of shutters around the perimitter to reduce the amount of sun shine heating the space up. Oh how I'd love a truckload of shutters! Lucky you!

Looks like a minnow bucket & coal carrier. I have some of those urn looking plastic planters. They last pretty well, I've had them 3-4 years & haven't broken or cracked yet, would last better painted tho. Mine are white. They had green & color you have also at the 99 cent store. Didn't see them this year. Love your long 1/2 barrel thing too at back of pic. Wipe the metal down with alcohol before you paint it & try not to touch it except on handles so when it is dry from alcohol, it will keep paint on. Jan

I was lunching with a group of ladies just after Christmas one year and they were all showing off their new jewelry and describing the lingerie their husbands had purchased for them. I sat pretty quietly because I had received the BEST gift of all from MY hubby...a belt sander! I don't think those ladies would have understood! janetga--I LOVE your pink cabinet! I power washed mine today and started spraying it a light green. Funny how a new color changes the look of the cabinet, isn't it? imjustsam -- Lowes has a magazine out this month $2.95 where they show a screen that has had moss attached and sedums tied to the wire. You might want to look at the magazine at Lowe's. After you attach the plants, you leave it laying flat until the roots attach to the moss and wire, then stand it upright.

I'm a snowman lover, so those cute little mugs really made me smile--so cute and love the shape too. I agree with OA about not letting those Fall candles burn away--they are so cute and unique. Just saw a candle holder like the ones with your grapes--it was $1.99 at my TS, so you got two cheaper than I could have gotten one! The grapes are a really nice versatile color, and I love your blue items too. You really do seem to have a knack for finding the good stuff at the yard sales and the prices can't be beat! Luvs

You did great, Yacht. Those wavy glass candleholders are unique and I can't wait to see what setting you use them in. I figured Luvs would go for those cute Snowman mugs, when she's not acorn hunting she's trapping Snowmen.
The floral arrangement has such soft pretty colors. I too wouldn't burn those neat Fall candles, decor "only"! You sure found some great stuff. I keep telling myself I need to try yard saling!

I say it again, "You are the 'QUEEN' of yard sales!

I would probably have saved enough $$s by now to build my much needed storage shed if I could yard sale with you instead of having to pay full price.

Why, OH WHY do we have to live so far apart?

Karen, you really do need to try yard saling. I find that our thrift stores are much higher than the yard sales too, Luvs.
Karen, DH is still trying to find a box at work that might fit what I found for you. I may just send off the other box first & have to wait til I can find the right size box.

Betty, it's amazing how some areas of the country just don't get into yard sales like here. I would miss them terribly if we did move to Florida.

I think I'd have to travel back here each spring just for the sales!!!

Wow, such wonderful finds and great prices. I like all of it but the cups are darling. Won't they be fun on winter tables? Thanks for the close ups. You have so many cute kitchen decorations and these will go so well with them.

Wow yachter...so many great things at fabulous prices.
Those snowmen mugs are adorable and will look so cute for winter tables. The candle holders are really nice and I can see you getting lots of use from them.
