need design ideas for small bathroom 6.5 X 8
Comments (21)I was asked on another thread to post a picture here of my bathroom as it's pretty small, 10 ft x 4ft 10. Some of the things we did to make the small design work: * made whole width of room the size of the shower * tiled to top of wall * used large format tiles in stacked pattern on walls * emphasized width using a horizontal glass accent * kept vanity unit small (24 x 16) * used large format floor tiles * kept colors simple and lines clean * we will also be using a frameless shower door, yet to be installed that will keep it all simple and open looking....See MoreMy small bathroom makeover
Comments (10)Wall color is a light blue, and the tub is white. One of the thing's that really pulled it all together was the shower curtain. jbjust, I would love to remove the old mirror but DH has a hard enough time with what work we've already done. He's not the DIY type. I am happy, it has made such a big improvement to that little space that use to be all beige. DS came over yesterday and saw our handy work for the first time, he's a very good handyman and he praised us for the work we did. Yesterday I finished hanging the door back on and the trim, the trim is very hard to do when you have to cut and piece to fit between the door trim and wall with only half inch. A pro would have no problem but for someone that doesn't do that type of work I'd go broke if I was trying to make a living at it LOL. It took me 3 hours to do a 18 1/16" - 3" and 1/2 inch cut. The thing that I liked about doing the trim myself verses having it done was it could be done right. I use the oil based primer doing two coats front and back making it water resistant. Were the old stuff was rotting away from the back side. Next up is the kitchen but we're having to hire it out :( it's to big of a job for me. Thank you for your kind comment, Barb...See MoreBathroom layout idea with 2 small bathrooms - including measurements
Comments (19)The "regular" bath layout that jensbride posted first is very similar to what our DD & DS shared for years and worked very well. The door, however, was a pocket style and placed directly across from the toilet. This allowed the vanity to be scooted around the corner to take up the whole wall. It leaves the toilet close to the tub, but with lots of elbow room. Our kids just learned to keep the door partially closed when the bath wasn't in use due to the "view"....See MoreFaucet for a very small bathroom sink ?
Comments (4)Yes, go to qualitybath.com or build.com or even look here on Houzz. Go to Bathroom Sink Faucets. Find the dropdown that gives you lots of choices for limiting your search and start clicking them off. You should find one for the reach of the faucet that will allow you to limit it to the size you need. Your should aim for it to drop the water near the drain in the sink, so get the measurement on how far the drain is from the hole(s) for the faucet off of the Specification Sheet on the sink's website. Plug that range into the search parameters at the faucet website. Add in things like what metal finish you want, number of holes, and so on. There are lots of other bathroom sites that will give you faucets to consider. Allmodern.com (a Wayfair company), eFaucets.com, faucetdirect.com Another option is to go to the Starcraft Custom Builders Faucet Reviews site and start reading. They are very particular about faucets meeting the lead standards and will clearly tell you if a brand does not. You can read their reviews of faucet companies and then decide which you like and go to their sites and see if they have a faucet that will fit. Be aware that a lot of foreign made faucets do not meet our lead standards and should not be sold here in the US, but still are sold. Remember that you will need room for the drain lever between the faucet and the wall if you get one with the little pull-up rod. Also remember to account for the water control lever movement if you have a tight space. A lot of us got the pop-down drains where we just push on the drain stopper to plug the drain and again to open it. No lever needed....See MoreUser
