Daisy centerpieces

I volunteered to decorate the tables for our Women's Prayer Breakfast. The theme is "Celebrating the Gift of Encouragement" from the book Silver Boxes - I haven't read it, but have seen it on the internet. My plan is to paint wooden blocks silver and tie a silver bow on each for table favors. At registration there will be the bic pens wrapped in green florist tape with a daisy on top for everyone to use to write their name on nametags (cardstock with small daisy on them). Tablecloths will be blue, and I'd like to use yellow and white daisies for table decorations. Does anyone have any ideas for daisy centerpieces?

I use daisies most of the time...
My favorite presentation is a daisy or two in individual small glass bottles that I have saved up. Some are antiques, some are new, all are odd shapes and sizes.
My idea for you is to drill a hole in your silver block that will hold a florists water pick(1/2" or a bit bigger) and insert a daisy stem or two in the water pick. You could use a curly ribbon bow/pom-pom to disguise the top of the pick. HTH

Jaybird thanks for the advice. I checked out the link, and the water picks are very reasonably priced. During my searches, I found that a lot of weddings are using wheatgrass with flowers inserted in the wheatgrass. The photos are gorgeous, and I've been thinking about that too. I need to purchase some seed and try it first to see how long it takes to grow the wheatgrass. Still trying to decide what to do. It's a little over a month away. Thanks again.

Oh, yes. I started my Profusions from seed (inside) last year in mid February for setting in the ground on April 15th (last frost date). By the fourth of July they were beginning to flop and needed cutting back for their "second season". I didn't remove them from the beds until late October, and they still looked wonderful. This series is a champ at mildew resistance and needs no deadheading. My kind of flower!

lindabeth, I can't make it to the plant trade, since I'm in law school and it's the middle of my finals. But I would love to arrange a pickup or dropoff. We live in the Ashford Park neighborhood, just north of Lenox Mall. I'm also in teh Emory area every day, if you're ever near here. As far as trades, I need more shade and partial sun plants, especially hostas, ferns, heuchera, columbines, astilbes, etc. Really, anything that likes shade.

I didn't get the chance to take any pre-party photos since I had several family members helping me set up and felt rather silly taking photos of the setup. However, the flowers are holding up great in the mason jars 5-days later--SIL thinks it may be due to the citrus in the water. I sent DS to choose flowers and he did a great job, keeping it simple. Here is one of the mason jars (5-days post party): DH has my camera with memory stick at the moment so when he gets back home I will look and see if there are any more pics there I can share.

Ring, if you have to go the most "economical" route, I recently did some simple funeral reception centerpieces using a single flower. I used tulips but you could substitute daisies.

Those photos are lovely with the yellow tulip centerpieces. Thanks for posting them. I called the florist today, and she said she will definitely have fresh daisies...so that's a good thing. Another lady is making navy tablecloths, and I have the supplies for the silver boxes and name tags, so things are progressing. Thanks again.
