Comments (4)Bought it, used it, never bought it again. Science (actual testing under controlled conditions) tells us there are certain things all plants require such as water, air and nutrients. This isn't up for debate, it is well established fact. Outside of the things we know plants to actually require is a wide world of things some plants may or may not benefit from. It is in this arena that scam marketers attempt to profit. If you do a google search on 'Dr. T.L. Senn' you will see that he is not at all shy about using his name and educational credentials to endorse anything and everything seaweed related as well as some unrelated stuff. All seaweed products are 'the bomb' according to his endorsements. Nevermind that the science in this area is sorely lacking, he has all the facts and anyone can buy his endorsement ;) Sorry, but I bought and used this product from either Johnny's or Burpee or somewhere else and saw absolutely nothing. The endorser of this product appears to endorse anything he is 'motivated' to endorse. Hold on tightly to your credit card :)...See MoreA tough question about tough carpet stains.
Comments (10)Having been a manufacturers rep for a well known commercial carpet manufacturer, I can say with confidence that some stains do not come out. And the red dye stain that started this thread is not removeable without damaging the rest of the carpet. I had to go on a claim at a large casino where at least 30 rooms had this red stain, coming from some type of drink guests were returning to their rooms with. The housekeeping staff found a product called something like Red Out, and had tried using it on these spots. The red itself became a lighter shade of pink but the entire stain almost doubled in size because of them using this product. In addition, the area surrounding the spot was over saturated and the carpet color was lightened significantly. There is nothing that could be done in this case. The carpet was ruined. I myself spilled (accidently) some Pepto Bismal on my very expensive bedroom carpet. The pink stain is about 3 inches big. I have tried everything possible to remove the stain, but it will not lighten or come out at all. To those parents with children, I would strongly suggest NO Hi C or any other red colored soda or juice. These stains rarely come out. Want to know the 2 other almost impossible to remove stains? French's mustard, and hot coffee....See MoreNeed a basement transformation miracle
Comments (30)I would not do too much in the way of painting or building anything for this space. You have a limited amount of time to get the project done and stressing over building things and/or painting is going to be overwhelming. As someone suggested a large carpet remnant in a light color would be fine for the floor. You could even get a pretty throw rug to go near the bed or dressing area for interest. Relocate the items on the metal shelving unit and put some pretty baskets on it for your mom to use for her folded items. You can add an extra blanket and magazines in a couple of the baskets. Get a rack for her to hang her clothes on. I'm guessing you need to buy a bed too? If so, a twin bed will be fine for one person, but a full size would be even better as it could help take up some of the space. Behind the bed, I would hang an inexpensive quilt to fill in the headboard area. Not being a huge fan of fake plants, in this situation I think an artificial ficus tree in the corner would soften up the area. Keep one of the wooden chairs for her to use near her dressing area (maybe put a decorative pillow on it). You could hang some sheets or curtains from the ceiling beams to close in the space and give an extra feeling of privacy, but a couple of room screens would be easy and attractive too. I wouldn't worry about doing anything with the overhead lighting. Just put a couple of lamps on some bedside tables and that should be sufficient (at least one three way lamp would be good). You can get decorator tables with the table cloths inexpensively at Walmart. I would stick with light colors for the bedding and fabrics. Make the bed as luxurious as you can afford...that would make my mom so much happier than paint on the wall. I hope you enjoy working on this space. I'm sure whatever you accomplish will be wonderful and your mom will enjoy it....See Morenew Kohler shower pan stained; Miracle Method cleaning? x-post
Comments (9)The Kohler website has a list of approved products for cleaning it's cast iron and the Magic Eraser is not one of them. Rog 3 is approved but Rog 1 is not. Please read the cleaning advice for your drain and bath hardware too. Some companies will advise you to avoid cleaning products with bleach. Unfortunately, you may have already damaged the finish by using the eraser, It is very abrasive. I read on the Martha Stewart websiite about using ph neutral cleaning products in the home. Neu Organics (http://www.neuhomecare.com/) was mentioned by name, I purchased their sampler product box. and have been pleased with the results. I also purchased the Rog 1 and 3 cleaning kit (rog3.com/products.html) to use on my Kohler Villager tub. It has only been less than a month since my project was completed so I can not speak about long term results....See Morelizstanton08
