I can tell you what I learned, with similar size constraints, before I decided to have a shower stall only. The alcove that I have for a tub is 5' long and, at most, 30" wide. I was looking only at cast iron tubs, and not at jetted models. Kohler makes a model, Villager, that is reasonably inexpensive ($300 range). It's not deep. Porcher makes a nice tub (Ardennes) that is narrow, but it's being discontinued. Toto makes a tub (1525) that is in your size range, and deeper than the others. It's very popular on this thread so you can find a lot of information on it if you search.

I'm liking the Toto tubs, even though they're pricier than I'd hoped. I think I've found one on faucetdirect.com for around $640. Not sure if my plumber can get me a better price locally or not, but I'll find out. The upside to going with Toto is that we'll probably use a Toto low-flow toilet so the finishes should match... I hope.

Toto has at least two whites. One matches Kohler, one matches American Standard. But many posters here have stated that mixing whites from different companies is not a problem. They look fine once installed.

I have a 5' x 32" soaking tub by Jason. It is the integrity line...a nice straight line and 20.5 " deep. I also did alot of searching to find a tub this size. I believe the price is alittle bit higher than the toto. Mine is still covered to avoid scratching from the tile being installed, but I will post a photo once it is uncovered.

Thanks brugloverz9, for the suggestion. It looks like your tub is a deck mount though, which means once it's set into a deck, the overall width would be too much for our space. Also, I forgot to mention that it's a tub/shower combo, so we need to have a flanged tub to tile-in.

Cali...Actually the name of the Jason tub is Forma...it does come with an apron if you want it to save space. They added the flange to tile in the 3 sides. The tiled apron was added to the front and could have been any width we wanted.
