Finally, everything is done except getting some art on the walls!

Our house was built in 1980 and the master bathroom was original. Silly huge jetted tub, itty-bitty shower stall, seldom-used sauna and bidet, and a large picture window and door overlooking a private suntanning deck that we removed a couple of years ago (so door led to nowhere and glass had to be covered in obscure plastic for privacy). Walls and ceiling were covered in grass cloth.

We had it demo'ed to the studs.

Deleted the picture window and built a walk-in shower and installed an undermounted normal sized air jet tub in the space where the old jetted tub used to be.

Replaced the vanity and toilet in their original locations.

Deleted the bidet and sauna.

Replaced door-to-nowhere with window with obscure glass.

Had a linen closet/laundry center built to match the new vanity and installed it where the old shower stall had been.

Sauna room is cedar lined and will become a storage closet.

Replaced all of the incandescent can lights with LED ones.

Replaced vanity mirrors and lights.

Installed a new heater/exhaust fan.

phylhl, your bathroom is beautiful! I am in the final planning stages of a master bath renovation myself, and I have some questions about your bathroom. In a previous bathroom update, we used the same Rohl showerhead as your handheld, but as a fixed showerhead. I find that it is almost impossible to change the functions. It definitely takes both hands to do so, but even then, it is extremely difficult. I called Rohl about it and they said it is supposed to be tight. Are you finding yours difficult to change? I see something in your shower that looks like a hook--? Just below the decorative panel and in front of the bench. Is that what it is? And is that a towel bar inside the shower on the half wall next to the shower door? If so, what is the material and make of the towel bar? My husband and I both use washcloths and I am struggling with what to hang them on in our shower. I want everything to be pretty, but it also must be very functional. I am having a hard time meeting both requirements here. :) Last question: is that a Rohl country bath toilet paper holder? Have you had any problems with the TP hook falling off the wall trim piece? The one I used in my other bath kept falling off. Rohl replaced it twice, and I finally gave up and had a handyman glue the hook onto the trim piece to keep it from falling off all the time. Wonderful transformation! Looks fun and relaxed, with sophistication sprinkled in. I love your wall art. I like the contrast. Such efficient use of cabinet space too! You did a fabulous job! And I love Copen Blue :) I painted several rooms that color. You must have a lot of light because your's looks a tad lighter than mine. When DS2 came to visit he called it Robin's Egg. I found a robin's egg shell several months ago and Copen Blue is lighter than the egg shell but was a great coordinating color. The vanity area: paint or tile what 2 walls? I thought you meant the wall with the mirror (one wall). I like the white for makeup too. But if you tiled it what tile were you thinking? The white? I don't think Id put the dark tile in that alcove. I wouldn't paint the cabinets either. Oh I went back and looked at the pic again. I see one side wall is a wall and not a cabinet. Ummm, could you hang more art instead of painting the walls? Of course paint is easy to change if you decide against the blue in there. I have an ironing board like that too and love the convenience.

K Sissy - I don't have a lot of info on the door - my contractor took care of it for me. I do know I said "as frameless as possible". When they came to measure, I asked about the door. I was told it is a Euro door. I did have a coating put on it but I don't know what brand. I was given a choice of a 30" or 28" door. I went with a 28". It is fine and plenty big enough for entance and exit. It was custom made by Service Glass in Pointiac, Michigan. If you have any specific questions, I can ask my contractor for you.

The shower system is a combination of several brands. I mixed and matched to get the function and look that I want. Grohe retrofit shower system in chrome 2786800 is the vertical bar system, the rain shower head is hansgrohe 27476001, the handheld shower head is hansgrohe 4" raindance 28504001, and the control is Brizo oden shower faucet T60075-PC. katrina - I am glad you get a chance to feel the actual pull in your hand before committing to any one. I remember reading somewhere that those hollow kinds are more prone to get dents. Not to mention that they feel cheap in your hand.

Wow! How beautiful -- great choice of products, love the porcelanosa shower tile -- I have that in some of my possibilities but couldn't figure out how to use it. I really like the pairing of it with your granite.

Beautiful! I love the tile choices. I wondered about how you like your new light over your vanity mirrors? In your before picture you show can lights in a valance over the vanity. How does the light compare from the before and after. We were thinking of doing low voltage pots over the vanity (to the back wall) to shine on the mirror and cross light with sconces on each side of mirror.

That is gorgeous! I love that Porcelanosa tile. Just put it on my short list for my future master bath redo. You did a fantastic job. Just beautiful.

OntarioMom, you are right, we had a soffit with can lights over the vanity before. Truly unflattering light. Removed it and went with wall lights above the mirrors. Although I like the lighting now, I can't say that I like the light fixtures themselves. They're incandescent (I did replace the standard bulbs in them with halogens) and would have looked better hung vertically rather than horizontally, but it was too late at the point that I figured that out . . .

Lovely, and so peaceful. although the original was quite glam too :) This bathroom looks very useful. I would say you have done a wonderful job of combining beauty with function. Bravo!

Wow, beautiful. Love the mix of materials. So clean looking and probably easy to clean especially that shower wall tile.

Can you please give me the exact name, model or link to that Porcelanosa tile? I Googled it, but didn't find yours and I want it! Looks so stylish, but easy care.

Your tub looks dreamy; how do you like it? Also, how do you access it if any problems; have a hidden removable panel somewhere?

Love, love, love the tub. It is very comfortable and therapeutic. One full tile (13x26) at the faucets end and another at the turbine end were set with sanded caulk instead of grout so that they can be removed for access if need be.

Coolbeans- Thanks for the additional info. I really really love that tile. The illusion and contrast of smaller tiles without all the grout lines. Perfect.
I haven't seen that tile, but will definitely check it out. Curious to see if they have other patterns or textures.
