Tablescape Thursday...Hats off to April...

Please forgive me if I link you to my blog post.

Photobucket no longer allows me to click and post..they are not current with Adobe 10, so you have to do an extra step to post a pic.

It took me hours last night to post, and then today they emailed telling me about the extra step...

So please have a look..while you are there check the post after it for a little April Fools joke!

Oh, wow. I wish I'd known about the April Fools lunch before today. My grandchildren are going to love it next year. How cute.
Plus, love the Easter plates in the first picture. And the vase too!

purplemoon, thank you, well, since this treatment is going to last at least until Aug, I have to deal with good days (few) and not so good days, but I try to not have the bad days totally run my life...they just slow it down LOL Paintingfool, you just gave me a good belly laugh (Godiva) ha, only in my dreams, especially lately LOL I am glad that the tablesetting bug has gone to your family, there is nothing more pleasing than people actually using their "treasures" rather than making a shrine to them. To be lovinging touched and sharing a food event whether simple or elaborate is what makes the dishes special, because they were used with love. And each time the dishes are used they acquire a new patina of love every time they are used, now that is "priceless". And wow, 6 sisters, that means 6 opporutunites of beautiful tables and fun! dining delight, thank you too for your sweet words. I do hope what thoughts that come streaming out of this head (especially lately) are of some help to everyone, I defineatly do not have a claim to "engaging prose", I do the best I can, but of course if anyone has any questions I am always glad to take a poke at it. I do not consider myself an expert in any way. As I had said in the main forum under another thread, I do follow certain rules, but I do put up alot of others for grabs LOL, at this stage of my life I try to please me and others, the whole idea is to have fun, bring in color, excitement to what is a normal routine in most of our lives. My ears are burning in a good way, thankyou :) luvs, the Party Planner seems to be way behind on posting the photos, but if you go to her most recent comment about being busy...I think, you will see people that participated with comments, click on there blog sign and their blog will come up and you will see their teaparties.

Thanks Everyone. I didn't know so many in our little group had April Birthdays. I'm really happy that I did an April BD table! Happy Birthday Marylee,...Punk's DH,...Jane,...and Frou. Jeanne and Jane, I have a solid yellow table cloth that I planned to use. When I found this one last week at a store in my town that sells slightly used, vintage and antique things I knew it was the right one. Thank you Kathleen, I saw your table on Tablescape Thursdays, Very pretty. Marylee, I'm so glad my table lifted your spirits. LOL. I also have benign positional vertigo! Maybe we were twins in another life. One of my (many) chemo side effects was some instability in walking, but I never had a vertigo attack so don't dwell on that worry. They said I might, but didn't. I was ok walking around the house, but a few problems occasionally when out and about- always wanted to have something or somebody nearby I could grab onto if I felt a little unstable. That has passed and I go out alone now and lead a normal life!!! Hooray for a normal life! Get a wig you love!! My hair is growing back in now, but I love my wig more than I ever loved my own hair. You really want to feel good about yourself!! I decided right in the beginning my life would not be defined by this bump in the road and I would NOT become a "victim". It has helped me stay positive (though you are allowed to whine if you feel like it!). Please keep in touch. So many gals helped me and I would be happy to help you if you have questions. I'll be glad to send my email address if you would like, but don't want to intrude.

actually, traditional ones-the really traditional old(and some new and highly prized but less convenient) menorahs use oil:) as it was in the original story the putting menorah on the windowsill or where it can be better seen from the outside has nothing in common with showing off menorahs -it's about "pirsum ha-nes"-"publisizing of the miracle", as Hamma said. One also won't be able to see details of menorahs from outside unless he literally sticks his face to the glass of every window. The light will be seen though. (putting mezuza on the doors is also not about showing off the mezuzas as you can guess..it's a commandment. Menorahs that should be seen are not a commandment because happened long after commandments were given..but yes, that's how the teaching about the holiday goes, and is observed this way) it's not a very minor holiday either-in Israel it is very much felt for example, very warm and happy..just has nothing to do with decorations. (most Jewish holidays don't put any stress on decorations). true not as important as many other holidays yet it does commemorate a pretty important historical event. But yes, it's not a holiday where one stops working..kids get their winter breaks though thus schools close. It's definitely overblown here I don't know why. I have my explanations and not all of them are bubkes-related, but yes, overblown. All the gifts thing is kinda overblown here too. traditionally kids got a bit of money..I suppose to have something to bet when playing with dreidels:) Dreidel is a part of the story too. Now it's really popular to give yummy equivalent of money-coin shaped chocolates wrapped in silver and gold foil, in addition to a gift. They're sold here too but in Israel every pre-school kid will be washed with these..they're cheap, shiny, and one can eat them:) ah and if already to continue into the subject-"menorah" is a translation that's not exactly correct..Menorah that stood in the Temple had 7 candles..the Hebrew name for Chanuka light is Chanukiya-and it has 8 candles, for the amount of days the tiny bit of oil in the Menorah miraculously burned while they were making the new oil , plus the ninth one with which you light the rest. our latkes kinda look like the ones cat_mom made..:) that's the recipee I use..it's gluten free though, tweaked for whoever has Celiac etc. It's very yummy nevertheless. That was long..it's always harder for me around the holidays, since I really miss the atmosphere I'm used to..in Chanukah that would be also the smell of jelly doughnuts that are sold freshly baked on every corner.. Luvs, the latest problem was with Photobucket. It happened once before when I used OE, and I had to switch to Mozilla to be able to post.
Now Adobe has upgraded and Pbucket is not up to date with it.
So instead of just clicking on the html, you have to click on the pic, then wait and go from there!

Anyway, thanks for going over and taking a look..and Luvs, yes he fell for the grilled cheese! It did look real!

I did another little table for tomorrow, which is Foodie Friday in blogland. So many events! So little time!

I've looked and looked. Of course, I had to stop and wipe the drool off of the keyboard! Did y'all see that dinner she had on that pretty yellow plate? Even though I'm still as full as a tick on a dog's back from dinner, I believe I could fit in just a little "bite 'o beef".

And, we won't even mention the tablescape. Forget the stores, I'm coming shopping at your house!

I am always blown away buy your tables and your food presentations, but I've learned to expect it because you are an artist. I don't always expect to drool though, and you make me drool. Ha, I just looked up and saw that Betty was drooling too. Hi, Betty. - Gail

Wow! Really sunny and spring like table with awesome food. Love the yellow and white combo and the egg ramekins are very cute. And I loved your April Fool's lunch - thats awesome. It does look like a sandwich!

Oh my Kathleen, don't know which I like better the decorations or the food. So glad I am not hungry because every time I open your blog I need something to eat.

Another great table! I like your "Hats off" title for it since you used the hat as the centerpiece. Your April's "food" trick is a terrific idea! Your blog is always fun to visit and I do it often.

Unfortunately, I can't have an eye on the delicious food you prepared and took pictures as I currently have stomach problems (I can't resist: each time I look at your pics I'm hungry and run to the fridge to eat something) but I promise, I'll take an eye as soon as I recover my normal health ;-)

But... I had an eye on the other pictures and enjoyed looking at your porch set as well as the bike you found! Hope to see this lovely bike painted and decorated for July 4th!
