Hi Lillo, trying to catch up with your decisions here. We are the same, I could never build a house, I would have to have two houses because the materials I like often do not go together. I would use the white calcutta on the surfaces, tub surround, bench, and vanity and tops of any pony walls or window sills. I would not use the porcelain next to it. The porcelain calcutta looks nice on its own but I would not but it up to the real marble. They will not be the same white in certain light. This leaves you with a dilemma on the front of the tub surround. I would go with a white subway tile for the shower wall in whatever size you wanted and the white 2 x 2 from home depot, cheap and easy to clean for the floor like Kevin suggested. I have it on the shower floor in my rental and it never gets cleaned and still looks new. If you want the marble for the shower floor because its yours master and you want the real deal, then swallow it and go with the square mosaic calcutta marble and seal it or white carerra. I didn't like the shower floor pattern example above, looks like the 70's. linoleum people pulled up. Also use the white mosaic calcutta shower floor marble or white carerra on front of the tub surround as long as its just the squares and not busy with inserts and a pattern. The white porcelain floor 12 x 12 is fine as long as it doesn't butt up against the tub surface. It will work fine, w rugs and I think you will forget its not the real marble and love its ease in cleaning. On another note, I have italian porcelain almost a commercial grade rectified throughout my home because I wanted easy cleaning and durable. Well, its shows water spots easily , looks hazy in areas and has a chip when a bottle fell out of the wine cooler. Point is no matter how we plan for durability and ease of cleaning nothing is perfect, so get what you love.

I got the idea for using the hinge down drawer in center like in the kitchen because it was an option my cabinet maker brought up and I passed it along to you. Thats when I knew he knew his craft. I know exactly what you are going through with the GC saying its only in kitchen and making your feel like any change is going to be more expensive but more an inconvenience. I had the help of a designer and still my plummer had to move pipes because I walked away and in the shower I wanted the line up to be the shower handle top because used more, then the body spray handle and at bottom the handheld because used less and he had it the other way around and had to spend a morning fixing it . After his complaining it was two hours it took him and not all day the way he made it sound. I learned through this process to speak up along the way as soon as possible and suck up the attitude that might result. I agree with your decision to make them all 8 in drawers , instead of 10 in on the outside panels , less the cab guy will screw up trying to match with other drawers. It shouldn't cost more to make your change because you haven't started. The hardware you mentioned and hinges save you some money which can go towards the inconvenience of what they think it is. I got the same attitude from my electrician who never heard of putting an outlet in the drawer. He worked for the GC and initially he said he can do anything I want. Seemed energetic and easy to please. The outlet was in the drawer on the initial drawings but when it can time to install he was wanting to do it his way and I wanted the outlet cover flush and seen in back of drawer the way we do here on this site. He was going to put it on the wall behind the drawer and use extension or something two stepped. Thanks to this site I knew it could be done and what to ask for. He made an excuse the there is no room behind drawer for the outlet box , however,this was planned for with cabinet guy who built his drawer less deep for people who do this, making it sound like its requested a lot. I think he learned on the job from me.LOL. The day he came to do his electrical finish work his arm was in a sling from surgery and he had his employee there doing a lot of the work we discussed. Get strong and tell them how you want it. Each day is a new day. This is a custom job , they should expect it.

I used SenGuard by Cosentino. It's the only sealer (permeable) that my local marble and granite yard recommends for white marbles. It's about $200 a container, but that was enough to do my shower and the rest of the bathroom floor and still have some left over. It allegedly lasts 15 years without reapplying.

Everything is on hold now Sofla because of marble issues . After I have been waiting for my slabs to come from Italy for more than a month , they finally came 10 days ago . They looked different from the ones I liked ,that were still marked as " sold " at the store for a month and half . When the owner of the store saw that I didn't like the new ones , he checked onto the other sold ones to find out that there were not even a deposit paid on them , so he told me I could have them . I was happy to get them and furious that I waited all this time for nothing . Finally he quoted me the price for the whole job , which was the most I had planned to pay for the marble ( 50% more than my original budget ) . Unfortunately this is not the end of the story . After I paid my deposit I found out that. my so unorganized contractor gave them wrong information about my tub , that it was a rectangular one not oval . So he had to go back and correct that , only to come back to me a day later with a $600.00 more on the job , $ 250.00 fees for using a wet saw for the oval part in the tub and 3feet more in material ( i dont know where did they come from ? ) . At this point I was so frustrated from that place and my contractor, so I got rid of one of them . I wish I could have gotten rid of both of them , but I had to bite my tongue with the contractor until he finishes the job . I hope Tomorrow I can finalize the marble with another place which I think ( according to what they told me ) can finish it in a couple of weeks . Wish me luck. I'll keep you posted.
