Why are Toto toilets with Sanagloss cheaper than without?
Comments (2)Something is wonky with the Toto website. On a quick scan, it looks like the non-Sanagloss models of the Carlyle only comes in Black. That is why the price is so much higher than th Sanagloss based models. The models with Sanagloss in white will usually run about $60 more than the non-sanagloss models in white. Good luck!...See MoreToto: Is Sana Gloss a must have?
Comments (6)Which model toilet? All the ones I looked at recently which came in Sanagloss are offered in the four standard Toto colors (Cotton, Colonial White, Sedona Beige and Bone). I seem to recall that some of the Eco models may have only been available in one color, and I guessed that was because Toto may be slowly phasing out the Eco models in favor if the "II" models (Double Cyclone flush replacing E-Max flush); I'm pretty sure all the "II" models come in the four colors. Does the model you're looking for have a look-alike twin in one of the newer "II" models? I can't answer your question about how important Sanagloss is; I just ordered my first Toto toilet, and it's not even here yet. I can tell you that I did a LOT of reading Toto threads here and on other forums, and the comments seemed somewhat mixed. Some people said they loved Sanagloss; some people said they didn't know if it made much/any difference. Some people who had one toilet with and one without said they preferred the one with Sanagloss; some said they couldn't tell the difference and wouldn't spend extra for it again. One comment that resonated for me was that many existing Toto users have older 1.6 gallon per flush models, but now that more and more are moving to 1.28 gallon per flush, Sanagloss might be more beneficial on the toilets with less water per flush. For what it's worth, which ain't much, I decided I wanted one with Sanagloss -- but in my case, all the models with the other features I wanted came with Sanagloss. -- Eric...See MoreCompleted guest bathroom! Comments (18)Thanks pharaoh, oh high priest of stunning bathrooms! For both upstairs baths, we ordered white Toto tubs, white Toto Soiree toilets, and the smaller Sonia sinks (as I'd mentioned above). All faucets and hardware will be satin or brushed nickel. For the vanity in our tiny MB, I'm leaning towards cherry with a black stain; either black-black, or black with a hint of dark purple or dark blue undertones, and for the hall bath, I'm considering cherry as well, but with a light reddish-sunset color stain (if such a stain color even exists!). Originally I'd wanted the MB to have cool colors for accents; blues, purples, some greens ("sea colors"), but now I'm thinking more white on white tones, maybe some MOP, so we'll see what inspiration hits me when it comes time to choose tile and paint! For the hall bath I want sunset/hot colors; fiery pinks, reds, oranges and yellows, just not sure if I want to bring those colors in at all with the tile, or stick with whites there, too, and then bring in my colors with the paint, shower curtain, towels, and accessories. Of course, if I go with the whites in the MB, I could scuttle my hot colors in the main bath and put my sea colors there...! Totally up in the air re: flooring material, so colors for those haven't even been on the radar yet. Might go with wood, or stone, or ?????...See MoreGuest bathroom toilet recommendation
Comments (13)Thanks for all the responses. Went to a show room today and I don't love the shape of the Vespin. I'd only seen it online before so I'm either back to the drawing board or will compromise. Looking for very contemporary with straight lines like our current duravit (I think it's a stark). The guy at the shop is pushing an Icera; there are a couple different models that are aesthetically pleasing, the Muse being one of them BUT I can't find any reviews. Did a search on google and also on this forum with zero hits. Really don't want to go with something that I can't read about in terms of performance. Someone suggested the Toto Nexus -- we have this in our master and it's great and, if one can say this about a toilet, really attractive. Only thing is it's curved and straight lines make much more sense for the guest bath. So, wanting to stay in the $500ish or less range, can anyone recommend a well performing toilet that's very contemporary with straight lines? The Nexus with a rectangular shape rather than oval would be perfect....See Morevdinli
