I love my Bluestar 48' Range

I spent about 5 years researching and saving to remodel my kitchen. This forum convinced me to get a Bluestar, and order from Eurostoves. I couldn't be happier with everything!

Trevor from Eurostoves was fantastic. My range was supposed to take about 10-12 weeks to arrive and he was able to switch things around so that I got it in less than 6. He beat my local dealers price by over $1000, and the range arrived in perfect condition.

I can't say enough good things about this range. The burners are amazing, and I no longer have to wait 20 minutes to boil water for pasta. I have never had a convection oven before, and this oven makes the best scones I have ever tasted. I have the 6 burner and built in griddle combination. The griddle is wonderful. Pancakes come out so light and fluffy it is incredible. I would never have imagined that the built in griddle would be so much better than the griddle set over the burners, but it is. We have made hamburgers, bacon, tons of pancakes, and I am looking forward to the first grilled cheese!

Overall I would wholeheartedly recommend Bluestar and Eurostoves!

I my be cynical but you spent 5 years researching your purchase and this forum convinced you to buy a Bluestar- yet you only joined today?

AHHH the memories. Impressive isn't it!? Cooks just as impressively. Not to stick my nose where it doesn't belong but if you have not considered it yet, I recommend a good seasoning of your grill before use. We almost did not get a grill but are glad we did now. We use it often.

We don't have white painted hood, but we have a cherry wood hood with an insert. Our Bluestar is 36", and we use the wok at least once a week. We've had it for a few months, and no problem with the wood hood, not sure if the painted hood would be any different, but it seems I see the big cooktops with painted wood hoods quite often. Good luck- I know you'll love your Bluestar- it's the favorite part of our kitchen.

Big box and discount stores often have a different number. Sometimes there are slight differences in the model, others it's just an identifier that you got it at Costco. Maybe do a shout out to Trevor or Jakvis who might know how to unpack the model numbers? From looking at the listings I've been able to figure out that the "30" is for a nominally thirty inch wide range. The 4B seems to be for four burner. (The 36" one is 6B.) I think the V2 is for the height of the back--vertical level two. (edit: Correction from John_Williams50--V2 is for Version 2) "SS" on other appliances is often "stainless steel", but I don't know if that's so for BS. If so, "C" near the end would be for "color".

I would choose RNB over Platinum. The griddle on the RNB is thermostatically controlled so that you can turn it on and get an easily reproducible temperature. There are some threads that are about how uneven the Platinum griddle is and there is a opening in the front that has a lot of heat coming out. The griddle is cast iron so will tend to hot spot. I don’t think there are a lot of fans of the grill either. Wolf as opaone talked about has a griddle with an infrared burner so the heat source is more even and it is twice as thick. Some people like to have zones of cooler and warmer heat though so they can cook and keep warm. You can search RNB griddle and most seem to like them. The BS and Wolf AG ovens are both like a standard oven. The BS is a little wider so that it holds a full commercial baking sheet, or two half sheets. The heat comes from the bottom. Many recipes in baking were developed with heat from the bottom. The Platinum has all of the heat coming from the back. Some people have had issues with that. You can turn the convection fan off but it still runs every time the pow’r burner comes on. There is a difference between the burners, Wolf being capped, so a wider flame on high heat. The BS does not have a burner cap so heat is straight up. If you plan on using the burner on highest heat for something like stir frying, this is important. The BS can have more BTUs because of this. Wolf does a much better job of keeping the flame from being too wide than some manufacturers do. I have Wolf and a little wider flame on high is good for me because I use 12-14” skillets. You might consider what is easier to clean, Wolf sealed burner tray vs the open BS tray. No right or wrong there. There are fans of each.

This forum convinced me to NOT get a BS after all the reliability reports :). But your observations seem right to me. We also find the griddle very useful on our Viking.

We went with Wolf+Induction for our next kitchen....

You didn't say...How long have you had your BS range?

Since you haven't gotten around to making a grilled cheese sammie yet, I'm supposing you & BS are still on honeymoon?

The ignitor & ignition module problem stories convinced me to cross BS off my list.

Congratulations - it's nice to hear about happy appliance owners! Amazing what a wide variety of choices there are available to us nowadays. Truly something for everyone!

This is great to hear. I will be ordering mine shortly. Questions - did it cost extra for the backsplash? Our local dealer quoted $339 extra for the island trim.
Also, what did you choose for a hood, and are you happy?

dancingsams - Don't let your dealer make an additional charge for a BlueStar backsplash. You should get your choice of three different styles at no extra cost. You can get the 21" backsplash with a shelf, the 8" backsplash without shelf, or the Island Trim which requires your wall behind the range to be covered with fireproof surface for 6" below the surface of the range. We just added more tile down the wall behind the range space and are really enjoying the Island Trim. I've heard that the taller backsplashes can get discolored by the heat off the burners but since I went for the lowest trim I don't have that problem. I have a small kitchen and like not having a higher trim which could make the range look overwhelming for the space. If you go to the BlueStar site, you can look at two collections of BlueStar owners photos which will show every backsplash in a variety of situations. Good Luck! I love my BlueStar - no problems here .

If you are purchasing the RNB24 RNB30 or RCS30 you have the option of a free island trim or low back, any other range it's an up charge for all three options.

The 21" highshelf is an up charge for ALL ranges.

You are purchasing one of the 48" ranges, the price your dealer quoted you is correct.

on my rnb36, island trim was about $240. anything over that is a gouge.

please let us know how the top is to clean- have heard several people mentioning the cast iron rusted very badly even after drying.

The range top is easy to clean IMO, and rust will not be a problem provided the top is dried after cleaning, this can be done simply by turning the burners on for 10 minutes.

We also oil our burners with cooking oil to season the cast iron to prevent rusting. Should anyone get a spot of rust simply rub the area with a green pad sponge then oil the area.

I personally have never heard of a customer with VERY bad rust especially after correctly drying and oiling.
