Wolf E Oven versus thermador masterpiece

I am considering Wolf E single oven with either a wolf microwave above/ wolf microwave drawer below or a thermador masterpiece combo oven/ micro or masterpiece single oven with separate masterpiece series micro and lift door above.

Any comments quality reliability would be appreciated!!!

From my experience, you would be MUCH better off going with the Wolf. Better reliability, but if you do have a problem, they are MUCH easier to deal with.

Hi Everyone. This is my first post--just redid my kitchen with much help from all of you (THANK YOU!). I did buy the Thermador Combi Steam instead of the Miele b/c of the convection option. It was the appliance I was the most excited to start using. I've been using it daily since December and feel that I must warn you, cooking with this appliance requires a lot of time, effort, and patience. There's a huge learning curve and you will screw things up--regardless of reading the owners manual. That said, it makes perfect boiled eggs, veggies, and rice---and reheats almost anything to it's original state. There's also a warming function so you don't need to purchase an additional warming drawer. The pre-programmed options are helpful, and there's a decent variety to cover the staples of most households. I still haven't figured out how to cook meat better than my regular oven or my crock pot--but I haven't given up yet. If seriously considering purchasing one, you should know that it emits steam while cooking and when you open the door, so you don't want it located in a high traffic area. You should also have a drawer directly below or nearby to store the cooking pans and rack that comes with the oven. I don't regret buying it but if doing it again, I'm not sure if this would be on my must have list--it would be on my nice to have list...

Thanks Joe and plllog for your comments. pllog, i've appreciated reading many of your posts. I will head back to the appliance dealer later this week. To add more context, we are pretty much leaning towards a Thermador appliance selection due to the attractive promotion. I believe the 30" Thermador convection wall oven will be very suitable for us. And since we are attracted to a steam option, we want to install a combi steam oven above the Thermador oven. As jaimeeap points out, the Wolf steam oven has more attractive features and usability, not to mention cooking capacity vs the Thermador steam oven options. will report back after spending more time at the dealer. appreciate additional input and feedback.

Not a lot of data out there on the Thermador model. It was new in 2019, I believe. That's when they added the touch screen to the electronics and lowered the maximum temperature of the oven (plus made it a little smaller capacity). I have the double oven predecessor and while I like it, there are a few annoying quirks. Nothing I can't live with (logic behind the oven lighting and timer controls), but I would have an issue with the lower max temp and potential reliability concern with the touch/swipe screen. The rotisserie is a gimmick. Have never used ours, nor would I. The post-roast cleaning of the oven cavity would be a nightmare. From a performance standpoint, the convection on our circa 2006 Monogram was more uniform. I didn't care for Monogram's newer rack design/thinner gauge so opted against it. At the time we built, Ferguson did not carry Miele and we were required by our builder to use Ferguson for built-in appliances. Have never tried a Wolf just because of the blue enamel issue. If a Bosch 800 or Benchmark series has a higher max oven temperature than the Thermador, I would chose it over the Thermador. I would very much consider adding Monogram and Miele to your research.

I have a Kitchen Aid double wall oven, mine has the blue enamel as well but I have never used the self-cleaning feature. My understanding is that the self-cleaning feature (especially on modern appliances) has a tendency to fry the computer. I've had this unit for ~9 years (knock on wood).

I can tell you that Wolf has been excellent. I hesitate to post because my kitchen and I are problem magnets and I now have a third set (yes third) of double ovens. The first had a manufacturing defect and was repaired when we had an overheating smell and thought we were about to have a fire. Wolf didn't even send out a repairman -- they just sent the installers with a replacement. Second set was working great -- until it developed crackling and flaking enamel. It had a couple of problems or they would have just replaced the liners. The new ones better work -- they look great and are the quietest of the three. They heated to 500 degrees (for the burnoff to clean and prep them for use) in 20-25 minutes. I wasn't timing, but it seemed like about 10 minutes to 350 today.

I told Wolf I had delayed in calling because I really didn't know if I wanted to try again, but the gal I talked to was so nice and so reassuring that they wanted me to be happy and it was no problem to have a repair tech come out and check it out. I hope to do a lot of baking this week to put them through the tests.

I had to come back. I hate to post about a problem and leave someone hanging with doubts.

NOTHING -- I repeat, NOTHING, can happen to these ovens! I am not going to allow that to happen. LOL

I timed them last night. They really did reach 350 in under 10 minutes and 400 in about 11 minutes. They are so quiet too. We are trying to finish our planting before DH has surgery, so I've been outdoors and not baking a lot, but the first several uses all look good. I am now seeing the kind of performance that makes you forget the price tag. Baked some biscuits without the convection and they baked evenly, not dark bottoms. I do need to put them to more tests, but so far, my only regret is that I delayed calling Wolf and giving them another chance (my oven cabinet face cracked when they cut the opening and needs to be replaced - but I wasn't sure I wanted them to cut it for a Wolf so I stewed a while trying to decide what to do). I will come back after doing some bread and longer cooking things too, but right now, I'm in love!

My rotisserie is on the grill outdoors. Wold had other features I wanted more than another one, but I think that living in a different climate could have swayed me.
