Do NOT put it in the self-cleaning oven. I had the same problem with my gray stove grates and thought I was such a genius using my oven to clean them. They came out beautiful the first time, and after the second time the enamel started breaking off. I finally had to get a new stovetop, this time SS with black cast iron (which has its own cleaning issues.)

Friends-- I am *this close* to getting a 30 inch gas Bertazzoni for my kitchen. Any advice, gripes, quirks, stories about how much you love it, etc. would be very welcome. Also, if you were happy or not with your retailer. I'd be buying on the internet (which doesn't scare me for books; does scare me for 400 pound ranges). Thanks!

Not a casting issue. The same grates are fine in other positions and other grates that were fine, in other positions wobble if put in the wobble location. Mine has the diagonal wobble on 2 grates. The wobble occurs from the back left of the grate to the font right. This is on the back left and back right positions. Seeing what I read above, this seems to happne at least on two grates for those affected but the positions on the rangetop are not the same. When I go home I will try flipping around the grate supports and see if the position changes. Mine is being hooked up today. I also called capitol for the new trays and supports, since I can see I have the grate spacing/movement issue. I can see the grate hole wouldn't remain centered over the burner without them.

My grates are black, and when they look a little goey I toss them in the dishwasher. And boy that does the trick they look like new again. I have heard (don't quote me) that this can cause them to rust. I wonder if this would be the case with SS grates. Mine are some black metal, not sure what they are made of. Scrub them with a stiff brush to remove any remaining gunk. To minimize future messes, keep an eye on pots so they don't boil over.
