When you say the entire front entry way -- do you mean the entire vertical column to the roof -- or just the lower portion with the arch up to the horizontal break line? Either way -- I would go lighter (just the opposite of your idea - sorry). Just like the windows are trimmed in white drawing you to notice them -- I would lighten the entrance area. Alternatively, consider an Exterior Glaze tinted with a slightly Darker Grey (or any color for that matter). This can be applied evenly ... or applied evenly and then brushed over with a clean push-broom (no kidding). The Darker Grey (or accent color) will settle in your stucco pattern but the under Grey color will still show thru making your entrance a subtle difference from everything else but tied together. Long and involved idea (sorry) but I've done this stucco application many, many times with fabulous results (for large interior areas). The technique is exactly the same for Exteriors and you can research it for more details. Good luck.

Hey all. Not exactly sure what would be the best way to do stucco up to wood window and door casing. My Anderson windows give this detail for their fibrex trim, which has the stucco in a casement bead, with a 1/4 gap between the stucco and the trim. Trim/casing is right on the sheathing here. It is pretty thick so that it is proud of the stucco (or whatever siding one chooses to use). Anderson instructs to put backer rod, then caulk in the 1/4" gap. I imagine one would use some sort of color-matched caulk to try and match the stucco finish coat. Should I do the same thing for wood trim? I'm finding any examples of best practices for wood trim with stucco. I've just never been a fan of those stucco-over-foam trims, which seem to be by far the most common. I've always liked wood trim.

Love these suggestions. This is such a tough decision. The Craftsman color in the palette ffpamls shared pulls at my heartstrings for sure! I’d love to do a shade of green. Anyone think that is too bold? Inglenook is also nice- bluish grey? Very pretty. We actually had our all but the two front windows replaced when we moved in. So many of them were in a dangerous condition and we have two small children. The original windows only had mullions on the two attic windows and we decided to replicate that in the replacements. I really appreciate all of your feedback!
