How to Paint an Open Concept space
Comments (6)So her concern is that if she paints the inside of the loft bedroom a color, say gray, and the stairway a different color, when you are in the bedroom, you will have a gray wall with two "windows" showing the stairway color. Honestly, I think this could give the loft bedroom some design interest. Just as the brick wall in the living room is an accent wall, the wall with the two "windows" becomes an accent wall in the bedroom. How does the brick wall tie into all of this? Is it visible from the bedroom? What I'd do is sort of a modern take on color blocking. Find a color for the living room that goes well with the color of the brick wall. Then find two more colors that coordinate well with the living room color. One color in the living room, and maybe that same color in the kitchen (a lot depends on how the space is laid out). Then the second color in the hallway and stairs. Then the third color in the bedroom. Good friends of mine did something like this in their very traditional house, with a center hall, a living room opening off to the right and the dining room opening off to the left, with large archways. The living room was a dark brown, the hall a mustardy gold and dining room a sage green. The colors all worked well together and clearly defined the spaces....See Moreideas for some privacy in a loft bedroom?
Comments (12)I like artistsharovna's second photo as a solution for this, but that still might be a bit much to execute. Here's an idea (I don't think I can find a photo of it) Get some hanging racks on wheels like they have in clothing stores and attach fabric hangings like beautiful old horse blankets, quilts or an oriental rug. You can push them together, overlap them or push them out of the way when you need to....See MoreAdvice on choosing a new paint color for my north facing bedroom.
Comments (57)Haven't read through the thread but will share this: I do like the black and white vibe you have going but wouldn't add much, if any, more black. Would definitely want to keep the walls really light in a north facing room so you can keep the furnishings you choose --even dark ones -- and yet not end up with a cave vibe. Would not use wall paper. Strategically placing a mirror can reflect outdoor light from the windows. Might invest in a stand for it ( or create one DIY) and try it in different places. .https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Mirrors/2009/subcat.html?featuredproduct=23050300&featuredoption=38528315&kid=9553000357392&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=28607771-000-000&cnc=US&cid=302184&type=&targetid=pla-295822288689&track=pspla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIur-8p7mw7QIVw9SzCh10yw8cEAkYBiABEgLeJfD_BwE...See MoreCurtain rod placement - small lofted bedroom with sloped ceilings?!
