Quality of Daltile or American Olean
Comments (4)I don't know if they have different product lines (ones they would sell in big box stores vs in smaller tile shops), but we bought our Daltile Modern Dimensions tile (white gloss) in a local tile shop that sells some high end tile. I don't think they'd sell Daltile if it wasn't decent....See MoreAmerican Olean Porcealin tiles for Bathroom
Comments (2)I brought home a couple of samples from the Avenue One series (white and light gray). I remember it being a beautiful tile - I especially loved the surface. If I recall correctly Avenue One is made by the Italian tile company Refin Ceramica. Look on the back of the tile and see if the manufacturers name is on it. I decided to go with City View from Daltile in Skyline Gray which is made by Atlas Concorde, another Italian tile company. Daltile and AO appear to outsource some of their lines which is great because it allows people who don't have access to these Italian tile companies the ability to buy their tiles....See MoreAmerican Olean Catarina Coliseum White tile
Comments (1)I'm wondering the same thing myself and called the company. Even they didn't know so I'm hoping someone with the tile can tell us....See MoreAnyone familiar with American Olean 2x6 subway tile?
Comments (12)Thanks all! Yes, unfortunately the Daltile is only available in 3"x6"---they also make a 2"x4" but it only comes premounted on mesh with 1/8" grout lines, and I want 1/16" grout lines. The AO tile doesn't appear to be bullnosed on the website (they have another that is) but it's hard to tell, and just not sure it's worth trekking out there if it's not even a contender. I did try Subway Ceramics but they will only sell through designers or architects so now I'm trying to figure out who I know who could order them! We'll see. I'll look for TileSource and Home and Stone, though---we'd be happy with either 2x6 or 2x4....See Morebill_vincent
