DuraCeramic and subfloor

mooie

To make a long story short, I've encountered a lot of mold problems in my bigger bathroom. I've fixed all the underlying problems that caused it and now the remodel is occuring. I'm having Dura Ceramic put down and my layer person type guy asked me tonite (because of the mold/mildew found underneath the old linoleum) if I wanted Durock put down as a subfloor. Can't say that I've ever heard of that or even considered it. My main concern was getting the floor up to high and then the plumbing would be off. What do you think? My option I threw out was that we'd be just as well off putting plywood down and covering it with tar paper! Just looking for some answers, I guess! Thanks!
