Tile ceiling of a frameless glass shower?
Comments (15)mommielady, it was heaven.. : ) It was a very small resort, with only about 13 cabins/huts, right on the ocean. The windows had no glass, only shutters, the floors were scrubbed wood, the beds had mosquito canopies (although I don't recall any mosquitoes) and you were lulled to sleep by the rush and ebb of the tide.....there were also tuberoses planted everywhere and the combination of salt air and fragrance was as intoxicating as a glass of champagne! The "bathroom" was at the back of my cabin....walled in by the high bouganvillea and other plants that literally created a ten foot wall....the shower was right there, the floor was pebbles and I just remember looking up to get my hair wet and there was the moon. Wow, I never wanted to leave this place...... Ivette...See MoreFrameless shower door is in - photo!
Comments (16)Thanks Marisany. I don't know if the silicone bead will attract mold - I hope not! Good point though. It is a clear bead. I should ask about that with the installation company ... hmm. There's no metal at the bottom of the door, there is a plastic flap though. It sits on the bottom of the door and provides a very snug fit with the threshold. (husband's gone out of town with my camera or I'd offer a pic). The hinges and other metal parts (fixed clips) are chrome. I couldn't swear they were solid chrome or chrome plated. The hinges weighed a lot when I looked at them in the store so pretty sturdy. Time between measure and install was I think around a week. I think it would be suitable for a bath that gets heavy use as there are just so few bits to get gunked up and few areas for water to get trapped. Take a look at this company's website. Even if buying from them is not an option for you, there's a lot of info and configurations that might help. Look under 'Gallery'. If anyone ends up researching Wilson Glass, talk to Josh. He just seemed way more helpful and personable there than someone else I spoke with. Here is a link that might be useful: This company makes tons of shower doors!...See MoreTile vs Stone for shower pan curb
Comments (9)Thanks all for the replies. I hadn't really thought about the issue of flatness for the shower door. Our current door (and we're intending to reuse for the new shower) is a metal framed slider, but we've talked about the possibility of putting in a frameless door in the future, so maybe it does make sense to go with the solid stone piece. Now to find something that goes with the existing tile, and the new tile that we've picked out. It's always something!...See MoreFrameless Showers
Comments (4)Having done a frameless neo-angle shower, I would NEVER do it again. Unless you are careful to place the showerhead where it will never be directed against the doorframe, it has a great tendency to leak. And since by nature most neo-angle showers are pretty small, angling that showerhead properly is a lot harder than it sounds. With the new thin European-type frames now available, it's a lot safer, cheaper, and more sensible to use a framed glass. We love the look of our neo-angle, and guests rave about how beautiful it is. I would reserve frameless, however, for showers where the spray will never hit the door directly; e.g., rectangular or large square showers....See Morebill_vincent
