My house smells like cat pee!
Comments (9)My sister-in-law bought a house with hardwood floors that had had a serious "cat problem." They had the floors sanded and refinished and the smell is gone. It isn't cheap, but it is a lot cheaper than replacing the floors. I've had limited success with a spot treating product called Nature's Miracle. I've used it on carpet and it definitely reduces the odor better than other things, but doesn't totally remove it. I've never tried it on wood. As for finding pee spots, a fluorescent blacklight in a dark room will make old urine stains glow yellowish white. You used to be able to get blacklights at places like Spencer's Gifts, but I think some online pet stores have them now for exactly this purpose. Works especially well on carpet (although it's creepy to see all the old stains), but it may work on your wood too. You may be surprised how many there are....See Moreremoving dog urine smell
Comments (22)Problem 1 : The urine odor. Try saturating the smelly spots with Natures Miracle or Odoban. Let air dry (keep windows open day and night), then have the rug professionally shampooed. Chem Dry comes to mind. Good luck. Problem 2. Regarding the behavior of the Nanny. My daughter is a self-employed nanny. She has plenty of customers because she is darn good and kids love her (and she loves them) . She is reliable, always on time, will clean up a little, make meals and feed kids, changes diapers, has her own transportation (Mom and Dad keep her car running, but she buys her own gas). Anyway, my daughter would never, ever have a pet. She owns a cat that lives with us (Mom and Dad). She had an apartment for a while but her cat remained with us. So, allowing a Nanny to even have a pet is OUT. Tell your sister to be very careful in her next hire. And my daughter's in New York, and not willing to re-locate, so I guess she's out....See MoreRemove dog urine smell on grass?
Comments (7)I know this question is kinda old but -- are you really sure it is the dog and not the plant(s)?? There are some plants (and I'm sorry I don't recall which ones at the moment) that really don't have a pleasant odor. I'd say the odor was more akin to cat pee than dog but regardless. My dog pees in the yard all the time and I've never smelled anything from that/those event(s). Also kind of unusual for dogs to pee in the same place all the time. Now marking is another thing but that also doesn't usually have any strong odor that I've ever noticed. Just my rather late thots FWIW....See MoreNeed quick help please...dog pee smell on mattress
Comments (23)I had a rescue dog in the back seat of my car as I brought her to her new home. She was a medium size dog (setter). Not only did she pee all over my rear seat, she threw up all over the seat and carpet. I've had dogs and cats all my life. Animals have accidents as do people. I've had my children throw up all over their beds, furniture, etc. I always found that Natures Miracle or other probiotic type cleaners made for those type of things work. My poor car, I didn't know where to begin! Wiped up as much as I could. I have leather seats but the urine and vomit seeped into the stitching. I wiped it down, then hit it with soapy water. I then soaked the seats with Natures Miracle and left all the doors open and put a box fan blowing into the car. We live in Florida and it was August. My garage must have been 120degrees with humidity the same. I was so upset, I was sure my car was ruined. I have a fairly large car (Honda Pilot) and the mess was all over. It eventually worked. It took time because of the heat/humidity. But I kept soaking it with Natures Miracle and airing it out. For a week, I was spraying the car with Febreze just to drive it. Now, I do not smell anything. The seats and carpet are dry (finally). Lot of hard work but at least it worked. Jane...See Morecindy2011
