Design Around This #21: Bold Patterned Tile - Post Designs Here
Comments (79)Ae2ga contacted me off line soliciting more substantive critique on her board. Apparently we weren't critical enough--step up, people! :) So I took her tile and design elements and did a couple boards. I thought that her underlying problem was that it is hard to use two vivid, contrasting colors in a design in balanced quantities and intensities without making it look like a college sports jersey (Go Cal Bears!). So I did one design where I let blues predominate and one where I let yellows take the lead, although a lot of the elements are the same. I focused on the color balance, and the styles of the different elements don't work together as well as I would like. It was devilishly hard finding things in the right color, let alone the right color and style. Anyway, feel free to rip these apart and let ae2ga know what you really think works and what doesn't with her tile. Comments (23)I like "Morning Joe" too, wannaretire, except for the darned music they play in the background sometimes. I like Willie Geist who has a 1/2 hour program before MJ and then is on their show a lot. We get two newspapers so I get most of the news from them. In the evening we watch ABC for two reasons. I like Diane Sawyer and the main reason------Jeopardy comes on right after :-) We sleep to either HDTV, CNN or MSNBC. CNN because I hope AC360 will have James Carvell on. I'm totally in love with him!! Cynic, those "coming up next" teasers drive me crazy, too. If you notice, these days they call themselves journalists rather than reporters. I don't know if it's because it sounds fancier or because they're just reading a script that's put in front of them. They do get my appreciation when they're able to pronounce all those foreign names. Like Blagojevich. LOL!...See MoreHow do I find a bath designer? Calling all designers to weigh.
Comments (8)Thanks Leelee and SJ McCarthy, The tile place says they will exchange the polished tiles for the honed ones. I agree with both of you, if I do the same tiles on floor, wainscoting wall and shower it will look more cohesive. I have a lot of tiles that are almost plain white, I will use these for the wainscoting wall behind the freestanding tub. This will make the room look not so busy. The shower is in another room so I’m not worried about the tile mismatch anymore. The new honed tiles are from the same lot as the previous tiles so hopefully it’s the same tones, beige, gold and greens....See Moremultiple bathrooms tile/design - how am I doing?
Comments (9)We have a black & white penny tile bathroom with a similar black vanity to the one in your photo. I strongly dislike and will be replacing both. The black & white penny tile needs to be cleaned almost daily, particularly if you have pets or have anyone that likes to trim a beard like my husband. It shows every hair or speck of dirt vividly. Some people like this, some people don't. The dark vanity with many annoying creases will also need to be cleaned often. It catches dust in each of those creases and tooth paste specks, which you'll have to scrub off. It convinced me I'll be replacing it with a slab-door vanity....See Morecaligirl_cottage
