The shower membrane (out of sight under the tile) should have been carried up and over the top of the curb with no penetrations through it on both the inside curb surface and the top curb surface. So in a proper shower, any water getting on the curb that then gets under the curb topping (cracks in grout, etc) should hit the membrane, flow into the shower (under the tile), and still exit the shower via the secondary weep holes and then go down the drain. If the water is getting under the curb and passing down the outside (non-shower) face of the curb, I suppose that's how it could then be getting into your framing if your membrane is intact and properly installed. If your membrane is in fine shape, and it's just water leaking down the outside, redoing things as you say could work. -Remove the shower enclosure. -Remove the curb. -Cut a new "L-shaped" piece just for the corner. It can be cut from a square piece of stone, whatever will match the new curb. -Then cut two legs that will run from that corner piece to each wall. You'll end up with a 3-piece curb. This way you'll have no curb seams at the corner. -Ideally, you can bevel the shower-side top inside edges of the curb. That way you can set the curb topping flat on the curb itself, the shower walls will sit flat on the curb, but the top of the curb that's inside the shower will be sloped to drain into the shower due to the bevel. Gwettin away from that possible solution, a coupe of questions: If that 45 miter in the shower frame leaks now despite your attempts at sealing it, it's still going to leak later, right? Do you feel confident enough that the solid, non-mitered curb under the 45 and the sloped/beveled top of the new curb will be sufficient to contain water? Are there any penetrations through the top of the curb that could be leaking? Any screws holding the frame's bottom channel to the curb that might be providing a path for the water to get past curb surface and under the membrane? Best of luck, water leaks can be tough.

Thanks all so very much. I'm jamming for leaving at 5AM Weds. to drive to the land. I understand what seems to be at least 2 votes for keeping fridge in "niche" at periphery and single wall oven & microwave in corner; and the rationale for doing so even with its greater distance to cooktop. Tons of votes for more windows - will think about that. The cooktop wall faces North and in Oregon mountains paying some attention to energy efficiency is warranted; views are wonderful, but not the knock out view to the west. You might see original post of overview of 1st floor. While K, might not have many windows itself, it is open to windows in an arc of perhaps 280 degrees through DR, LR, and Entry. This is NOT a substitute for windows that are within arms reach, so might keep the one in the corner and simply add one to where I was mentioning. The image below is from the LR looking toward K. None of the furniture is right, none of the colors are other than the defaults in the software. Windows in DR, and proposed for K are about right. From where this camera view is taken in LR the window wall to the left will have a 9' picture window, plus a smaller one and these will be borrowed views from K (prep sink in particular when looking at a diagonal). The mountain shown in the image is NOT at all accurate and any mountain view to the N thru DR will show Mount Jefferson as quite small and over 39 miles away. For views to west the mountains are only 18 miles. Thanks for all of the continued help and interest. I will provide prelim elevations after I get back from trip and look forward to adding windows. My designer/architect loves windows, but even he showed restraint so while I won't skimp in K, it might be fine with one or at most two - will see.

This should be a “Bathroom” topic but I can’t figure out how to love it.

Here is what I will say, 36'' should be fine, but conforming to a 'rule" is not necessary, everyone has different spaces they need to work in. 2nd to that, it is your master, not many other people will go in there, so do what makes you happy. Please post a picture, before you hang the mirror there may be better options with sconces you have not thought about.
