Tea Time Topiary Vignette

Thanks to Karen and her topiary link, I made this for my DF who is so generous with her crystal gifts. It was an expensive project but she is worth it. Thank goodness the Macy store is going out of business or I wouldn't of been able to purchase the cups and saucers for this, She has a full set of Royal Albert, so I made a topiary to match. I set a small vignette to photograph before giving it to her so thought I'd share.

I should be doing other things this weekend but decided to just have fun. First playing with DGD and then on to Vignette and Tablescape for St Paddy's Day. I'll share that after all the Levi tables are finished next week.

I put out DM Tea Set and had to move things alittle closer to get a picture with both. Two favorite people in my life. She is the one who came into my life by her choice. She told me on several visits that if she would of been lucky enough to have a daughter she would of wanted one just like me. That melted my heart and we've become the best of friends. It doesn't get much sweeter than that does it?

Thanks again ladies for the nice compliments. Yachter..I know what you mean about wearing all those nice clothes to church the tradition of an 'Easter Outfit'...top to bottom.. I feel sad too that kids today don't have that at all. It's hard to get them to dress up for anything now a days. As far as not keeping anything.. don't beat yourself up.. I think we've all parted with something that we've regretted, down the line. So, you're not alone with that. Oh Jay...Now you made ME smile reading about your 'Pin' story!! I can relate to it all. I miss not getting to wear 'my stuff' each day. I was Always such a jewelry freak and had a huge jewelry armorie that made it very easy to see, and grab something to put on everday. I loved having everyone 'enjoy' it too, just like you. It's so nice to know we share the same 'jewelry history'! I agree with you on feeling that the way people dress for church.. it's sort of disrespectful..but times have changed and so have attitudes...I'm greatful for the time I grew up in. Lynn...thank you...I'm glad you liked the vignettes espec the one with the gloves. I thought I'd try something different and took the pic in a sepia tone. I think it came out pretty and Karen's idea to frame two of those pictures I think is a great idea. I feel like a kid thinking up different ideas with those cloches..I'm sure it will wear off in time...lol OA...I guess I really 'touched a nerve' with everyone, on the subject of Hats & Gloves for Church. If I took a vote ... I think everyone would want that tradition back again. I really think, when they stopped the dress code for church, that's when everything changed drastically. It went from casual to 'Sloppy'! I still have a hard time seeing people with T-Shirts and jeans on. It also brings on a different attitude. But, I guess the church felt they would rather have the people there dressed 'As Is' rather than them Not being there at all. Very sad...all around. Thanks again everyone...I enjoyed all of you sharing with me your memories of how you all dressed for Church. It's nice to know I'm not alone in missing that custom. jane

Update, my son recieved a "care" package from a very caring friend, from his highschool years, who happens to be in contact with him almost daily & knows the struggles our family has been facing. He & his wife sent a gift for everyone in our family, the grandkids, my son, my DH & me. They sent me a beautiful white candle (how did they know I'm a candle nut?) and I was so thrilled, as I had wanted to put one in my counter display & just didn't seem to have one that really fit perfectly! The candle is a soy candle from a place in Alabama where they live called Fairhope Soy Candle Co. The scent is Creme Brulee and is just wonderful, and can't believe this, I AM allergic to all flower scented candles but totally can enjoy any food scented candles. This one has a sweet, buttery scent that makes your mouth water! YUM God does work in mysterious ways, sure helped my spirits yesterday, to realize there are still so many caring & loving people in this crazy world. Thank you Miranda & Brian. purplemoon, thank you, well, since this treatment is going to last at least until Aug, I have to deal with good days (few) and not so good days, but I try to not have the bad days totally run my life...they just slow it down LOL Paintingfool, you just gave me a good belly laugh (Godiva) ha, only in my dreams, especially lately LOL I am glad that the tablesetting bug has gone to your family, there is nothing more pleasing than people actually using their "treasures" rather than making a shrine to them. To be lovinging touched and sharing a food event whether simple or elaborate is what makes the dishes special, because they were used with love. And each time the dishes are used they acquire a new patina of love every time they are used, now that is "priceless". And wow, 6 sisters, that means 6 opporutunites of beautiful tables and fun! dining delight, thank you too for your sweet words. I do hope what thoughts that come streaming out of this head (especially lately) are of some help to everyone, I defineatly do not have a claim to "engaging prose", I do the best I can, but of course if anyone has any questions I am always glad to take a poke at it. I do not consider myself an expert in any way. As I had said in the main forum under another thread, I do follow certain rules, but I do put up alot of others for grabs LOL, at this stage of my life I try to please me and others, the whole idea is to have fun, bring in color, excitement to what is a normal routine in most of our lives. My ears are burning in a good way, thankyou :) luvs, the Party Planner seems to be way behind on posting the photos, but if you go to her most recent comment about being busy...I think, you will see people that participated with comments, click on there blog sign and their blog will come up and you will see their teaparties.

Wow! Your whole yard is a testament to Earth Day. It's beautiful. I especially like your lettuce plates. They have such a dainty feeling to them. The napkin rings are a nice touch too. Syble, it's all so charming. Now, I shall speak to your imagined tardiness. The assignment was due today. So you are in the clear. Let me remind you, however, that waiting until the last minute is not always the wisest thing to do. As you know, I give a few extra credit points for anyone who turns their assignment in early (This helps me have a long span of time in which to correct all the assignments.) Your work has been exemplary up to this time, but you never know when those few extra points may come in handy. Back to your work - I want some stemware like yours. I have lots of dishes, but not much in the way of glasses. I'd like to start thinking about getting some with a little color. Do the goblets have the same diamond design as the snifters?

Thanks and I hope you try one. It takes more flowers than you would think so buy lots. I had a hard time finding the roses I wanted to use.

The ones I wanted were $7.99 for 4 roses and I knew that was to much to spend on this project after buying the cups and saucers. The red and yellow roses were $1.99 a bunch and I used more than 1 bunch of each color. The pink ones were $5.99 and I would of bought them in the red and yellow but it wasn't an option at Michaels.

In my late night IPP (Internet picture prowling), I found these adorable teacup decorating ideas.
I want to do something like this first one for sure. And hope others of you do too for that matter.
Wouldn't these make delightful gifts!
I can't remember where I saw the St Paddy one, saved it months ago. However the two Easter pictures are from someone (periwinkle vintage) who I think sells her stuff. The pictures were on FlickR.
All are terrific ideas, but then I love teacups and this gives me an excuse to pick up a pretty
one antiquing occasionally. (never any like this in my GW unfortunately. And with antique prices,
I can usually resist buying them. Tho a rose one called my name last year and I 'needed' it.

Punk, you did a beautiful job making the topiary, it turned out just beautiful and really makes a pretty vignette with your silver tea service too. I'm sure your friend will be so thrilled with your gift. Luvs

Punk you've done a very professional job of that topiary! Lovely gift for a special friend. Colors of roses are perfect. Did you use a 4" styrofoam ball and did you paint it or moss it first? I just started doing topiaries before Christmas and am still not sure of the best way to do them. I know I want to do more tho and am inspired to do a teacup topiary with one of my $1 china cups.

Old Country Roses china brings back some lovely memories for me as at one time many moons ago I thought I would buy that pattern for my china. Never did buy but still like it and I'm sure I have a teacup/saucer packed away.

Wow, Punk, that looks like something out of a magazine! You are one very talented gal! How wonderful for you both to have found each other. It's a lovely story. Can I make one suggestion? Your first pic up there is really beautifully photographed. It would make a lovely gift in itself, if you enlarged it up to a 4x6" or 5'7" and popped it into an inexpensive easel-back frame. It sure would brighten up a table, desk or shelf . . . for you and your dear friend.

Karen, I love them. Thank you so much and don't you ever think you have to worry about showing more goodies. I'm not like that and the thoought would never cross my mind you were trying to hijack my post. That's not what friends do.

Luckygal, thank you for the comment. I used a styrofoam ball that fit perfectly in the cup and glued around the edge. Then used a little larger one for the top. Don't know what size it was but the roses are at least 1-1.5" so don't think it was that large. I went by Karen's link she provided and used both mosses on the balls.

I wish my cup would of been $1.lol I hope you make 1 or more and post for us.

Now I can tell all of you how she reacted to receiving my gift tonight. She told me that she wanted to give me her whole set of Royal Albert dishes including the topiary in time.

Then she opened a beautiful velvet box and pulled out a strand of her cultured pearls and ask if I would wear them. She also said "I hope you don't think I'm trying to buy your friendship". More tears of joy have not been shed. Now can I say she is a Priceless friend? Can't out do her no matter what I do but I'll do what I can.

She had brought me a lace tablecloth for my Easter table in yesterday. I'm hoping to set a table before that with it so she will know how much I love it.

Punk, I'm sure she is thrilled to find a friend who loves the same kind of things that she does. We've all discussed many times how usually the kids do not love Mom's collections like she does--and many end up in TS or antique stores because no one in the family wants them. You are making her feel good by allowing her to find a "good home" for some of her favorite things!

Oh I agree with both Karen and Luvs.
I agree Luvs..I've gone to too many of those sales that made me feel so sad that 'No One' in the family would want anything..even for its sentimental value.
I feel Punk's friend is feeling so blessed to have
someone in her life who cares and wants to share what she loves.
