Should I also be considering the Capital Precision 4 burner w/Infra-Q BBQ Grill? Looks like their model has a matte porcelain finsh and the burners are all 18K btu's. Anyone have feedback on this one?

So the monogram does not have the large center burner? I have the 5 burner monogram (no griddle) and I use that center burner a lot. I will say that this cooktop is really easy to clean. I have the stainless version, not the black one. Monogram simmers very low on all burners and I use that feature quite a bit. It's nice not having to move pans around to the simmer burners since they all simmer.

I find that sometimes it is better to simmer on the 22k or 15k Btu Bluestar burners, a simmer is relative to the size of the pan or the amount of food in that pan.

In our cooking school we find that a large pan of soup or stew simmers better on one of the larger burner. While the so called simmer burner on the Bluestar is better for a smaller pan of sauce you want to simmer or a smaller pan of soup you want to heat up fast.

When using the larger 22k or 15k btu burner you find the even heat distribution to the base of the pan is better for heating or simmering.

As for the grill while i have nothing to offer you on the Monogram Grill I would suggest you look at the video's on the website linked below. you will see the Bluestar Grill in action and also how easy it is to clean PROVIDED you take the correct precautions.

Also in the videos you may gain get a better understanding of what i am trying to say about simmering on a Bluestar range using the larger burners once you see the burners up close on full power and on simmer.

Are any of the grills adjustable? I think it was the Wolf Infrared grill that didn't adjust (either full on or off) and it was so hot people had trouble with burning...

rhome - the Mongoram says this "Adjustable Ceramic IR Grill". All it says about the Capital is "BBQ grill sections includes Tru-Side channeling grates that reduce flare-ups*". And I cant find anything about the Bluestar grill?

I found this info from a poster on a another thread about the Capital grill......

"The infrared grills burn much HOTTER than the typical U-shaped burner grills on most high-end ranges and rangetops. Howerver, Capital's infrared grills are adjustable and come with a unique grill that you use one side of it for fattier meats (beef, pork, lamb) and use the other side for lighter meats (chicken & fish). The first side has 'U' channels in the grate to drain away excess fat. This will keep your flare-ups down on the grill. Yes, they are BBQ quality (Capital makes outdoor BBQ's too)."

From looking at those pics of the Capital, I see that the material under the burners is stainless steel. I wonder how hard that would be to keep clean. Also, the Capital grates are joined together. Im also not sure I would like the Infrared grills. They might be great, but I think I like the look of a flame, maybe Im old school. Is infrared better?

Anyone have the Monogram? Is it easy to keep clean? I would love to just get the Bluestar, but I dont like that the 4th burner is simmer only. The burners dont all perform the same like the Monogram would. UGHHH! Decisions, decisions......

Now I see that the Monogram is Infrared too. I need to know more about Infrared. Pros, cons?
