If it were me, I would wait a few months for the Electrolux if that is what you really want, rather than go with an undercounter oven. I am doing induction, and I may be stuck with an undercounter oven. From reading the specs on many cooktops and ovens, it seems that you have to have just the right combination of appliances to make it work. What happens if/when one breaks and needs to be replaced? You are back in the specification nightmare.

That said, if anyone has done this successfully, please tell us what units you used. Save me the agony.

Oh darn, the title should have been "which 30 inch OVEN under 30 inch induction cooktop" !

I've mentioned this before on GW - I have the Miele 36" induction over a 30" Miele oven. Originally I was going to go with a double oven but the layout wasn't working with a double oven and now I'm glad there's an oven right under the cooktop. I have a wall oven in another work zone that was meant for baking (not a Miele). However, I prefer the Miele over the other wall oven and even though the baking oven is higher, I do 85% of my baking in the oven under the cooktop. I don't think it mattered which Miele oven we put under it, just as long as it was a Miele. At least, that's what the appliance salesman told us. Even though the other oven is at a more convenient height, I use the under the induction oven 85% of the time for my baking because I prefer that oven. The height doesn't bother me.

It should be even easier for you to do if both appliances are 30". I'm not up on specs for other brands but they may suggest that both appliances are the same brand.

However, if Electrolux is the one you have your heart set on, I'd be inclined to wait it out. Patience and persistence pays off - well, at least some of the time it does. :) I went 11+ weeks without an oven during our remodel, which wasn't fun but it's only a dull memory now that it's over.

There are mixed messages about when the Electrolux will be ready. I've read here about delays but my appliance salesman called his Electrolux rep, The rep says I should have it for mid April delivery. Do you have the option of using your old range in the meantime if it doesn't arrive on time?

One option to consider is the GE Profile 30" induction cooktop above the GE Profile Single/Double Wall Oven. That way you get induction and TWO ovens - what you would of gotten with the Electrolux Induction Range.

I appreciate the feedback. Wow - 11 weeks without an oven -- that is a long time!! Country, is your Miele oven much lower to the floor than a typical range oven? Also, any issues reading the dials on the oven? Why do you prefer the Miele for baking over your other oven - why is it superior?

Sadly, I will not have the option of using a range while I am waiting for the Electrolux. We would be baking in the toaster oven and would have to buy a portable electric cooktop for the stove --

Right now the Electolux web site still says that the range will be released in March --

De Dietrich (Fagor, Brandt, Diva, Windcrest, etc.) 30" induction cooktop over a Dacor Millenia wall oven. No problems, combo works great!

jama - Off hand I can't say how much difference there is between my under induction oven and range to the floor, but here are the measurements of my oven under the induction:
- the top of the oven door is 7 3/4" below the countertop
- the oven door is 23" high
- the bottom of the door is 5 7/8" from the floor

I took a photo of the bottom so you can see that there is still cabinet trim under the door and the full amount of toekick space as the rest of the cabinets. The cooktop and oven were installed by a Miele installer so I'm assuming everything is up to par.

The first photo gives you a view of the induction above the oven.

Hope that helps!!! But, from what others say, maybe you won't have a long wait for an Electrolux after all if you decide to go that route. Best wishes in whatever you decide.

And as for your question why do I like the Miele better? - It seems to do an overall nicer job, bakes more evenly, baked goods have a nicer appearance, etc. I used to have a basic oven in my old kitchen and didn't know there was such a difference between different brands. The only reason I bought the Miele oven was because I needed the same brand under the induction. The price was not something I was happy about, and I even got a floor model that was marked down more than $1,000, but now that I see how well it works, I find myself wishing I would have sprung for both Miele ovens.

cookie08, I have a question about your suggestion to pair the 30" GE with the single/double wall oven. Do you have this combo installed or on order? If so, maybe you can help me with the clearance question. There are so many differences in the clearance requirements under the GE, it seems to depend on who I talk to, getting answers from 9" to 15" clearance specs, all claiming to come from the GE manual... I'd like to do the GE over the single/double as you suggest, but I just can't get good info on the real installation issues. I will be so very deeply grateful if you can help with current info!

smiling: when you install the same brand wall oven beneath a cooktop, all those rules about clearances are disregarded. It has to be installed per GE directions though. A good installer has done this numerous times and knows that the installment instructions must be followed to the letter.
