I'd like to have twice the acreage I have now, with about half of the new part in woodland. A nice variety of native woodland wildflowers and interesting shrubs. Galax. Native orchids. Solomon's seal. Lady's slipper. Enough ferns to satisfy my soul (might not be possible). And I would magically change the two huge rhodies next to the carport from purple to white -- as well as change the azaleas so they aren't all different (clashing) colors! And magically banish all the Bermuda grass! And the poison ivy. And the wild onion. And the Carolina horse nettle. And the greenbriar. And the Japanese honeysuckle. And the multiflora rose. And the trailing wild raspberry. And the dodder in the creek bed. And all the Bradford pear seedlings. Oh wow. Then there are the do-able but far in the future changes: ripping out the narrow, sunken front walk and replacing it with a wider, curving walk farther from the house. Expanding the bed on the other side of the walk. Figuring out a better way to deal with the change in ground level on the north side of the house from the front to the walk-out basement. Figuring out what to do with the "valley" ("swale" doesn't begin to describe it) between the rhodies and the cherry trees, which becomes a creek with any good amount of rain. Regrading the entire backyard so the lawn slopes evenly from the house down to the pasture fence. Well, I think we'll have to put that one in the "magical" category too! *sigh* If I know what's good for me, I'll go move the dwarf mugo pines to the new bed....

Linda, I live in the Cities and my favorite greenhouse is Tonkadale in Minnetonka. They have a very nice selection of succulents - I think pot size is 4" - and the price is right at $5.95. They also have smaller and larger sizes as well. They get their succulents from a wholesale grower in North Branch and I've been meaning to contact them to see if they'll let me drive up but just haven't had the chance. Yeah, the b/f was a real piece of work lol. It is over with though, very short lived thank goodness lol. Trying to keep up here. I can't believe October is almost over! Ack! We had my 7 year olds birthday last saturday and now this saturday is halloween. Holy cow it never ends!

Marilyn, our daughter was born in '78 when the hospital was still new. We were back in IN in '05 for a quick visit and were both surprised to see how old it looked. Patti43, yes eating them off the ground is wonderful...as long as they are really ripe and the bugs haven't gotten to them. I like the orange ones...sweet and good Persimmon flavor. We were at ISU while Larry Bird was playing Basketball. I worked in the testing office of the University and proctored at least one exam that he took. He was just one of the guys at that point. We left TH for Indy in '75, just as Larry Bird was starting to take off. He is still a Hero to all Hoosiers. My Aunt holds on tight to her unopened box of Wheaties with LB on the front... sooey who is looking forward to Thanksgiving and some yummy Persimmon Pudding.
