I've had my 36" range Bluestar for almost seven years and we have replaced every single ignitor at least two times, many three or more. We've also had issues where we have had to replace the entire burner because the screws had rusted into place (our original range was built without stainless steel screws ... oops) and then they've broken off when we tried to make the ignitor change. In addition, we've had to have the spark modules (ignitor control boxes) replaced twice on one side, once on the other. On several occasions, "shorts" (that's the term we were told by repair people), have caused the wires to melt and fuse together--meaning the ignitor wire that goes from the ignitor itself and then plugs into another wire that goes into the spark module fused--requiring replacement of not only the ignitor, but the second wire (which also requires removal of the front plate). We also continue to have issues with all of our burners clicking constantly, even when the lit burner is fully on, unless the flame is on full high. (But only on two of the six burners.) So, yes, replacing an ignitor is a fairly trivial, if annoying and potentially expensive prospect, IF you don't also have melted wires, rusted screws that shear off when you try to remove the ignitor or broken spark modules. Oh, and you can actually get Bluestar to send you the ignitors you order and pay for in the first place. That's never really gone smoothly for me, either. In my experience, 6-12 week waits are the norm for parts from Bluestar. Plus, once you get the parts, you better hope they're right. We've had at least four replacement ignitors that didn't work, right out of the bag: cracked in shipment. The fragile, unprotected ceramic ignitors are sent loose--hitting against each other, if you order more than one--in small bubble mailers. A little rough handling in route and you're bound to get at least one pre-cracked ignitor per-batch ... At $25/pop, for what I've been told by several service people is a "$3 part." (But we've also not found off-brand ignitors that fit the Bluestar without modification.) "Stooxie," and others, I'm glad it hasn't happened to you but the ignitor issue (no air quotes) is, or at least, was, NOT "nonsensical." It's possible they've addressed these problems in later models, but I can attest the issue is most certainly a legit one. I don't have one, but I was very impressed with the Capital Culinarian, for many reasons, but at least in part because they had a large metal shield covering part of their ceramic ignitors, making me think they'll be a LOT less fragile. Oh and, in terms of Bluestar issues ... I will also say that, it's likely these are not current concerns, but we were certainly not thrilled to need two oven door replacements (locking itself shut) and a new oven bottom (support collapsed) ... Just more "non-issues" experienced by myself and many other Bluestar owners of the same generation. When the range works, it's impressive, but the shoddy build-quality I've seen (mine also came with loose screws floating free and missing parts) and abysmal customer service means I would never, ever buy another Bluestar, no matter what their next, latest-greatest is. They may have cleaned up their act now, but they treated their early adopters like Beta testers ... Without the service and support such positions usually come with. EDITED TO ADD: I'm not saying no one else should buy a Bluestar, or that they haven't solved the problems I've described above in later builds (I haven't cooked on one built later than mine, but I've read anecdotal evidence seems to indicate at least some changes have been made). Update on my double electric AR french door ovens: After less than a year with the ovens and suffering through a variety of problems, which were all addressed by AR in a somewhat timely fashion...my ovens were pulled out and replaced with new ones. All paid for by AR. We had a similar issue with the 50 amp v 60 amps. Their printed installation material says 50amps are needed but actually the company in an email to me said 60amps. Exhausted from the back and forth with the company, I ended up paying the electrician to come and change the breaker when the new ovens were installed. Anyway...here's the scoop. I've had the new ovens now for nearly a year and like them very much BUT they only seem to work when on the Convection setting. I cannot get a good bake on anything when using just Bake. Don't know why. I've come to terms with this; it's working for me. Warning: you canNOT change from Bake to Convection or vice a versa without the top element coming on and BURNING whatever you're baking. Essentially, when you change a setting, the oven thinks you're restarting and that super-hot top element comes on. So make a decision straight off on how you're baking and stick with it, otherwise if you change while baking all will be burnt. Trust me on this. Yes, the ovens are noisy. Yes, the French doors are wonderful. No, the knobs do not get hot. I have mine on for hours. I do have stone on the bottom racks this is a permanent feature. Yes, I rotate pans. A lot of info. Let me know if you have any other questions. Do I recommend? I need to think about that.

I purchased a 36" Capital Precision Range in 2009 with four burners and a griddle for my home in Canada and have had nothing but problems with the unit from the very start. I ordered a propane gas range through Direct Buy. I did not know this but they delivered one that had been converted from natural gas to propane gas. The flames burned too high and with lots of yellow instead of all blue flame. It turned my beautiful new stainless steel pots black. After spending months in limbo caught up in a tug of war of between Capital Cooking and their Canadian distributor as to who should be responsible for the repair, they agreed to send someone out to look at the problem. Apparently, the distributor, Integrated Appliance of Toronto, ON, did not do the conversion properly and they after much back and forth finally agreed to pay for the repair. However to add insult to injury, I ended up getting charged for the repair and it took over 6 months to get reimbursement! The problem is, although a service provider supposedly "fixed" the problem, in reality the problem still remains. The other MAJOR problem I had with this range is that none of the ranges burn at a low simmer - as per the manufacturer's claim. It boils EVERYTHING! I have had this range for a year and a half and am still trying to get the simple satisfaction of having Capital provide the range that they promise in their advertising rather than one with uncontrollable, scorching burners. When I send correspondence to Capital and Integrated they do not respond for months and I only receive a response after multiple emails. Today I was told by Capital that it is the responsibility of the distributor, Integrated to fix the problem. It is truly upsetting that Capital is simply passing the buck and not standing behind their supposedly "quality" product. Integrated, in turn, wrote me an email stating that the problem persists due to the remoteness of my home. So BEWARE friends - don't purchase a Capital Range distributed by Integrated Appliance if you live in the country! "Precision"?? What a joke!

It is hard to find a kitchen which doesn't mix stainless steel with another metal. Most appliances now are stainless steel, and there are stainless steel sinks. As others have said, the polish of a chrome faucet is very nice against these finishes. The majority of homes do not have finishes on their faucets to go with their appliances. There is usually a significant upcharge for different faucet finishes over a chrome finish. Most people aren't on the Kitchens Forum, and they don't give their faucet's chrome finish vs. their appliances, knobs or sink finish much thought. When you go to relatives' or friends' homes, does it bother you if their faucet finish is different from other finishes in their kitchens? Have you even noticed?
