Twelfth Night Table

Forgive me, it's rather simple and certainly not up to the caliber of some of the gorgeous, inspired tablescapes I see here, but this is our table for tonight's Twelfth Night dinner. I wanted to do a bit more, but DH is held up at the office with sick patients and won't get home 'till 8PM (if I'm lucky!). I may tweak it a bit, but he'll be too tired to really appreciate it much. The kids will . . . somewhat ;^P

Not a very special dinner either, just tortilla crusted talapia, risotto with Parmesan and white wine, a fresh salad and a nice bottle of wine.

Happy Twelfth Night . . . the 12th Day of Christmas and the Feast of the Three Kings!

I keep these three kings santos out all year (this is New Mexico; we do that out here ). They've been out in the family room on the credenza through the holiday season. Runner is an antique from Belgium, where my grandmother is from. Votive holders are from HL. Christmas dinnerplates are Christopher Radko.

Lynn, what a wonderfully appropriate centerpiece for a 12th Night Table!! Those 3 kings really set the tone for the meal! Love the detail in them. The white runner and candles give them a "holy" look as well. Makes me wish I had taken the magi out of my nativity and done such a themed table tonight...maybe next year! Your dinner sounds fabulous too! Hope your DH isn't too late!

I'm strongly inclined to wood tones. But I do believe there should be some variety of finishes too..so I have-in different spots of living and family spaces- a glass coffee table, an upholstered ottoman, a rattan stool, a small gilded occasional table with a mirrored top..Every room needs some relief.. I dream of having something lacquered/painted, but I didn't find that piece yet. I thought I did (a wonderful secretaire- I saw it by chance in a consignment shop, and immediately bought it for a song)..but my husband was so much against the idea that I had to drop it. I did read in one of the books on design about the apartment that belonged to well-known designers(maybe Mitchell and Gold? I'm really not sure), and their thing was to paint all their antiques and other furniture in either black or white.

Thanks everyone for the help! Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures of the bedroom because we haven’t moved in yet. This is a photo of it currently (with the ceiling fan - that will be going). There are wooden floors which I plan on covering with a large grey area rug. Definitely would be open to incorporating more navy into the room. Those table ideas are great. Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately I only have a few of the new dresser because it’s wrapped up and packed to be moved !

Yes, agree with everyone, your pieces are unique & quite special for this 12th nite table! Not many of us would have the perfect pieces for this occasion!

Very nice. I really like your votive holders. And PLEASE give us a closer shot of your plates. I found some Christopher Radko salad bowls after Christmas and need some plates to go with them for next year.

Thanks for the compliments on the table, minimal though it was. Here's a couple pics of my better Christmas dish set. I took them last Christmas Season, before we got our new (old) table. The pics are obviously not staged, so please excuse the messy tablecloth. I didn't use the salad plates last night, as they're too Christmasy for Twelfth Night, IMO. What I'm looking for next are some less-cute salad plates to go with the dinner plates, for another, more elegant look.

As for the table itself, I don't know how old it is. I bought it at a great consignment & antique shop down in Albuqerque this past May. I can tell you that it's solid mahogany, gorgeously carved, solidly made and very, very heavy.

Love your three kings, they are just perfect for this occasion. Love all your plates too, the checks and holly with berries are so pretty. Sorry your DH was kept late, being sick doesn't stop for the holidays does it? I'm sure it made him feel good to see what a nice table and meal you had waiting for him. Luvs

Not to worry Lynn, you know you're appreciated here. Kids have tunnel vision, and sorry to say, it doesn't include a beautifully set table. They'll come a day when DS and DD will want to impress a certain someone, and guess who will be called on to help? You'll be appreciated then!

Your 3 kings are very unique~love 'em! A simple yet elegant table. ;o)

So pretty Lynn. You have such beautiful accessories, the three kings are just lovely. The pure white table runner on your dark table is stunning. I like those red goblets and the red/silver votives.

We still have our tree up and aren't quite ready to let the Christmas season go!
