Dimension Plus does have the auto open feature. It says so in the manual, it says so in Miele's comparison chart given to dealers, and I know this because I own one. It is why I went with the Dimension Plus over the Dimension. Only the Dimension Plus and Diamond have it. I didn't really think the Diamond was worth something like $700 more. That's almost halfway to a new Miele dishwasher. Commenting on space again: I was sitting my sister-in-law's house recently. She had some generic American dishwasher (Hot Point, Amana, or similar). Not only did it sound like a jet engine (my old GE was NEVER so loud) but it did not hold the dishes my Miele does. Having the third rack up top helps a lot. Not only can one place a lot of other items up there besides utensils (I do things like spoon rests) but it frees up a lot of space on the bottom rack. I realize other manufacturers other than Miele make dishwashers with a third rack, but this feature helps a lot. After being used to the Miele for almost 4 months now a "regular" dishwasher seemed like a huge step back in many ways and capacity was one of them because there was one whole less rack to work with!

What dishwasher does not get "mixed" reviews? What dishwasher brand does not have at least a few "I will never get an appliance from THAT brand again" reviews? Most negative reviews for Miele center around people that are comparing them to old top of the line dishwashers that were not energy or water efficient. And they complain about wash times. Or people that used phosphate based detergent then unknowingly started buying new phosphate free formulas and thought something was wrong with their dishwasher. And bought a new Miele and did not notice an improvement. And are mad about.But that has nothing to do with Miele. And a few had install problems and a few got a Miele Lemon. It happens to all appliance companies. If you have consistently soft water you should consider Asko, Bosch or Miele Classic. I think they all clean equally well in this situation but Miele has better long term durability. If you have hard water that has a consistent hardness level you should consider Bosch 800 Plus that has a manually operated water softener. But if like most Americans you have hard water that varies in water hardness you should strongly consider a Miele Crystal or higher that have automatic water softeners. The Bosch softener you adjust for water hardness level while the Miele continually adjust as the water hardness level changes. This really gives better results. The benefit to Dimension Plus with Q4 sound rating and Diamond is that they have auto open door that helps in drying by letting steam out at end of cycle. The Diamond also has auto close as well, the LED lighting, standard 5 year warranty with 24 hour monitoring by Miele HQ via wifi. BTW I love the cutlery tray. It saves more time during unloading that it cost during loading. Plus cutlery gets cleaned better. You can buy a Miele basket and use it instead if you really want to.

Right now I am washing a couple lightly soiled dishes but mostly crystal, using China cycle with pre wash. I am trying crushed Miele tab (about 1/2 tsp) in the pre wash and 1 tsp citric acid in main compartment, no extra dry. Whatever is going on here is occurring during the intermediate and or final rinse. After many tests, the residue is there regardless of soap amount, within reason. Both the Somat x5 and Miele RA (German and US versions) still leave the residue. Putting RA at 0 with or without detergent still leaves residue, just less. So it’s something going on with our water, I believe. Opening the door and spraying vinegar in during final rinse helps, but not pragmatic. Our Anaheim water hardness ranges from 17-21 gpg and was measured by Miele tech as 21, so it’s set accordingly with RA at 2. One other factor -water takes about 4 to 5 minutes to even get warm here on the 4th floor of our building, essentially a cold water fill. So as opposed to running the water prior to a cycle, I enabled the Heat Accumulator function. To make sure this wasn’t causing the residue, I have ran the machine with the feature enabled and not enabled; the Heat Accumulator didn’t seem to help or hurt the issue.

We bought a Miele Lumen dishwasher a couple years ago and have had nothing but problems from the time it was installed. The dishes don’t get clean. I have tried all their “suggestions” and several different soaps. A tech came out a few times but nothing changed. As a last-ditch effort, I recently decided to try it on the “sanitize” cycle and that worked finally. The part I hate about this is that it is a 2 hour and 50-minute cycle!!!! So much for saving on electricity. On their website it says “Save up to 50% on electricity. All Miele Dishwashers can be connected to a hot water connection at a temperature of up to 150°F. This reduces electricity consumption by up to 50% and running times by up to 10%. In the Economy program, the energy consumption of the dishwasher drops to as little as 0.45 kWh.” If I ran it on economy my dishes would be so dirty! The dishwasher also condensates or leaks water under my cabinet and drips onto the floor leaving a puddle. Not to mention it drips on the electronic panel. I imagine there is a failure waiting to happen there. On the same side it drips it also build up all the gunk on the inside of the door panel. It is weird and I have no clue how this is happening. I keep cleaning it off and the next day it is back again after a cycle of dishes. I have pictures and video of everything I am explaining. Lastly, I have a horrible rattle when the dishwasher first starts. We had a working KitchenAid before we thought we were “upgrading” to a Miele. We now wish we had never got rid of the KitchenAid. We have a Miele vacuum and have been happy. Miele is supposed to be the best of the best. Sad to say that after our experience with the dish washer we will never buy a Miele product again. To say I hate this dishwasher is an understatement! I’m ready to “office space” it! After I wrote a review awhile back a manager had contacted me and had someone come out to try to “fix” it. However, nothing was ever fixed. In fact, after inspecting under my sink recently I have noticed that the water line is connected to the cold water. It should be connected to the hot water, per their website. I have reached out recently but no one has returned my emails/calls.
