I just posted this information in another thread but I thought it might be helpful here. First of all, I would like to state that I never considered Wolf ovens, soley because of price. We actually had a pretty large kitchen budget (and made it even bigger as we went along), but I just didn't want to spend nearly 10% of my budget on an oven. I would say that I expect a Wolf oven to perform better, because it does cost more than twice as much. I saw the one post saying that it will last twice as long, well I'm not sure if that's true, but I don't think I want to use any oven for 40 years, assuming the Electrolux only lasts 20 years. What I posted in the other thread is about our non-Icon Double 30" Electrolux ovens. From everything I can see and read it appears as though they are the same, minus appearance and number of easy glide racks. Speaking of appearance, I think both Electrolux actually look nicer than the Wolf ovens, but that is a personal preference. I think the nicest looking oven is the Thermador with the large round clock and controls, but that costs as much as Wolf, and is made right along side, with many same components, as a Bosch oven. Our Electrolux was installed this August, they seemed fine, until we released the time was running fast on the clock. No big deal. Then we noticed things were taking much longer to cook in the top oven than the bottom, as well as taking much longer to get to temperature. After buying some after market thermometers, we saw the top oven was running 150 degrees below what it said it was running at, unless convection was picked. Bottom oven seemed to run closer to desired temp, but still off a bit. Called Electrolux and had a service company take a look at it. We were not happy about having these problems in an expensive (and new) oven, and requested a replacement. Electrolux said they would get back to us. 1 week later we found out the swap was approved. New oven was delivered, and the temps are running dead on perfect. Every product can have a one off lemon, it's how they deal with it. I am VERY pleased with the service we received, and I would happily recommend Electrolux to anyone who is interested. FYI, regarding the blue flaking, we did have it on both the original oven and the replacement. After the oven was first installed and ran, there were some flakes on the bottom of the oven. After wiping them out the first time, we have never seen them occur again. I attribute it to the first time the oven is moved and not a big deal as it never happened a second time Lastly, regarding Mac vs Dell, that comment was nonsense. Compare a $1500 Macbook Pro with a Dell Latitude E series. The Dell is actually better made, its just the OS (Win 7) that isn't as nice. People think of crummy Dell's because of the cheap $400 laptops they buy at Staples. Problem is the cheapest Mac you can buy is $1000, so you might as well compare Apples to Apples (pun intented).

Re sale. Funny I used to think that way, but then I realized that where I live, most seem to buy the house then redo it to the way they want it. My neghbor next door bought her house, redid it(interior only since we cannot change anything about the outside) and didn't move in for 8 months. She also removed the good appliances(I thought they were good) including the sub-zero in the kitchen. This has happened in several of the houses around here...they are bought..and the insides are replaced.... and these houses are far from being "run down" or in poor shape. So I am not going to worry about resale value when it comes to what appliances I have in the house. I buy what I want and I don't really care what my neighbors think about them, because when I am gone my ideas will get replaced.

Sorry weedmeister, I guess I forgot to check off that I wanted any responses sent to my e-mail, so all this time I thought no one had responded to me. Our 36" height counter will have granite installed on it. The cabinet to install/surround the 30" wall oven would be 33" width. Thanks for clarifying that the 4 1/2" toekick area was a maximum and not a minimum. My builder tells me that he thinks he could make it work, but it will definitely be only a couple inches off the ground. The alternative is to change the kitchen design and put the oven to the left of the cooktop where my 33" wide drawer base was going and move the drawers under the cooktop instead. (I'll lose one drawer and they would now be only 30"). Not sure of this compromise and not sure if the oven will look weird sitting to the left of the cooktop, though it may be easier to put things into the oven directly from the cooktop with this configuration. I'm still plugging away, but at this point my builder is at a standstill until appliances are picked so electrician can come in. Any other thoughts appreciated.

I currently have double Viking wall ovens and cooktop and I love them. However, I do love the look of the commercial ranges. I find that both of my double ovens are not really at good heights for me though. I'm 5'4". The bottom oven is a little low and the top one (the one I use the most) is a little high and I usually have to get my son or husband to help me with getting heavy items out. So, while planning a kitchen renovation on a new house, I chose the Thermador 48" range with the steam oven and warming drawer. I realize I might not like going back to bending to get things out of the oven, but I know I can reach them myself. I also was able to free up a lot of wall cabinet space so I can put in a nice pantry cabinet which I need in the design. My kitchen design is all on one long wall really with a 16' island in front of it. I am getting a Miele speed oven and putting that in the island and it functions as a convection oven/microwave. I'm guessing it will be the oven I use most when cooking only for my husband and myself. I've agonized over this for months now (range vs. cooktop and wall ovens) but in the end cabinet space and "the look" of a commercial range won out! And, honestly, the only time I use both my wall ovens now is at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is a big waste of cabinet space 363 days out of the year :) I hope this helps and good luck!!
