Luna- Bless you. I already knew you were a person that cares about others feelings before you care about your own. I have heard about other people being so polite that if they start coughing and chocking in a restaurant, they will go to the bathroom and die alone!!!!! I'll bet that the cashier had a very large box of bandaids very handy. You are just that special!!!! Next time ask for the bandage. You are worth it. Sweet Strawberry, Your grandbaby is beautiful. No doubt the little ones will grow up crafting and being creative. They are so lucky to have a good teacher. One of my grandmothers let us kids do anything you can imagine (playing down in the woods, crawling under the house to nap with the hunting dog, playing inside of an old car, parching peanuts in the fire place, cooking with no recipes in her kitchen, riding each other around in an old rusty wheel barrow, ect. ect. The only injury I ever had in all of those years was a wasp sting.). My other grandmother would just let us sit on the porch. If we got up to giggle and play and hop around on her walkway she would say "come on back here and sit down". Which one will I love eternally??? Luna- Yes I got hurt this week. I am going to learn to mosaic. I was harvesting ceramic/china roses off of old cracked vessels. Using the tile nippers is tricky. I was not prepared for the flying shards of glazed glassy chips ect. My fingers kept getting tiny pieces of glass in them. In fact I even had tiny glass fragments on one of my socks. I diffinately need to find out what gloves to wear and some practicle tips on doing this art form. susie

Funny stories about different transactions. Bill_h, I'm glad to read that in the Motor City, it's somewhat of a free-for-all. It just seems appropriate, being the home of the U.S. auto industry. One thing that can work well for selling a car -- if you're replacing it with a new or used car from a dealer -- is what dealers around here call a "courtesy trade." You and the buyer of your car agree on a price as usual, then you and your buyer go together to the dealer where you're buying your new car. The dealer shows your old car on the sales documents as a trade, with the value being the price the buyer is going to pay for it. This saves you on sales tax in many states. The buyer then purchases the car from the dealer for that price. I know of many dealers who will do this for free, as a service to the person buying the car from them. A few charge the buyer a standard "paperwork" fee. They're willing to do it even though they make no money on the sale of the trade because it can help you buy the new car, since the buyer is presumably giving you more for it than the dealer would have.

Ooh, I"m the mean mom on this one-no, I never let my kids eat or drink in the car. Ever. Not when they were tiny, not older with fast food, not now as teenagers. I bought my (first ever in my life) brand new vehicle when I was pregnant with my first child. To be honest, I knew that the crud of food detritus that ALWAYS results from little ones and food in a car would be impossible for me to bear so I figured it was best not to even start it. So we never did. I do have to say that if you are going to have a no-food rule in the car, it probably has to be something that starts from the very beginning. I think it would be extremely difficult to enforce once the kids (and mom :) are used to it. Oh, and I am such a neat freak I couldn't bear to let my toddlers sit in a high chair and smear food all over themselves. Just couldn't stand it. So no photos of my one year old wearing birthday cake all over the face, body and furniture, no watching them smear peas into a paste all over "brrr, gives me the shudders to think of it) etc...they feed themselves fine anyway nowadays. They'll probably be talking about mean old mom in therapy for years though! Ann
