Help with mudroom/powder room light fixtures
Comments (4)Patty, if I do get the mirror, do you have any thoughts on light fixtures? I am considering the one in the link below. I think it goes with the vanity and the rest of the room, but probably doesn't go with the mirror. Would the Martha Stewart fixture in my original post look all right with it? Comments (10)Just some thoughts: Powder rooms can be made "L" shaped so the toilet is not what you see when the door opens. You see the side of a small wall sink in the corner you turn before seeing the toilet. A laundry room in the front isn't necessarily a bad thing. You might consider more of a laundry closet than a laundry room. You might be able to create a "mudroom" that is a hallway between house and garage with the washer and dryer facing each other at one end of that mudroom. You might be able to create a "mudroom" that is actually a hallway with a closet on one side hiding the washer and dryer and the powder room on the other set out so as the door opens between toilet and sink, the open door hides the toilet until it the door is closed....See MorePowder Room - Need it? If so, where to put it?
Comments (4)I'm going through a similar situation in a condo we are renovating. The existing powder room was in a good location. But we are expanding the kitchen which would have put it in kitchen. We are moving it to an area between the entrance and LR. I'm not crazy about the location but really see no other option. anyone who is uncomfortable can use the upstairs guest bathroom. But I wanted the convenience and option of having one downstairs. It will also be more convenient for us when we don't have company....See MoreBasement garage and mudroom...where do you put the laundry?
Comments (17)Excellent comments. Thank you everyone. We are a mixed household, so one child is only present 50% of the time (other 50% is with his mother), and my daughter is with us 100% of the time. Most of the laundry is generated by us (my partner and I) on the lofted 2nd floor and my daughter on the main floor (as well as the kitchen I suppose). The wrench in the plan is that the plan allows for a MIL space in the basement, which may house my aging parents at some point. The basement also is where the mudroom/primary family entrance will be. We are adventurous family, so often coming in from trips/etc. Although our laundry is on the 2nd floor in our current home, located between the master and my daughter's room. I love it having it so close to the bedrooms, and I don't mind carrying the occasional load from a camping trip up the stairs. So maybe keeping it on the main floor is best! I'll be investigating the restrictions on dumbwaiters, as having a lift from the basement would also help in carrying other loads (groceries) up the stairs....See Moresusanka
